2002: Appeared in a team-high 29 games as a sophomore, all in relief...earned second-team All-Conference USA honors after leading the team, finishing second in the league and tied for 20th in the nation with nine saves in 66.2 innings of work while ranking second in the conference and 26th in the NCAA with a 10.4 strikeout-per-nine inning average...finished second on the squad in strikeouts (77), ERA (3.38), opponent batting average (.263) and runners picked off (7)...ranked second in C-USA in games finished (tied with 25), fifth in games in relief, sixth in appearances, seventh in strikeouts and 10th in ERA...earned C-USA Pitcher of the Week honors on April 22 after tallying three saves in as many appearances, tallying a 1.23 ERA while striking out nine, walking four and giving up just two hits in 7.1 innings of relief...earned wins at Pepperdine (Feb. 10), Villanova (Feb. 17) and George Washington (Feb. 23)...had four or more strikeouts in seven games, including a six strikeout game at UNO (April 17), seven Ks vs. Saint Louis (March 30) and in the NCAA Regional against LSU (June 1), and a career-best 11 punchouts against Villanova (Feb. 17)...a success off the diamond as well, earned C-USA Commissioner[apos]s Academic Honor Roll recognition.
2001:Appeared in 29 games as a true freshman, including three starts...led the team in appearances and runners picked off (five) finished tied for second in wins (nine) and fifth in innings pitched (64.0) while tallying a 3.52 ERA...tied for fifth in Conference USA in appearances and tied for seventh in games in relief while ranking tied for third in wins and fourth in runners picked off...earned Most Outstanding Player honors at the NCAA New Orleans Regional after striking out seven and allowing just one earned run in 6.2 innings of relief to earn wins in all three games...in postseason play, totaled five wins and a save with a 1.05 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 17.0 innings...recorded four or more strikeouts four times...longest outing of the year came in his first career-start vs. UNO (March 20) when he struck out a personal-best seven batters while giving up just four hits and one earned run in 7.0 innings of work to earn his first career victory...earned first career save at Southern Miss (April 20) with five strikeouts and no earned runs in 2.1 innings...also earned a save in game two of the NCAA New Orleans Super Regional, clinching the 9-4 win over LSU with 2.1 scoreless innings against the Tigers...off the diamond, earned C-USA Commissioner[apos]s Academic Honor Roll recognition.
High School: Four-year letterman at Maclay High for coach Tim Ashcroft...earned first-team all-area and second-team all-state honors as a senior, and was voted team MVP his final two prep seasons...named one of the Top 25 recruits in the state by Baseball America as a senior after going 7-4 with a 1.93 ERA and 106 strikeouts in 79.0 innings of work while also hitting .404...off the diamond, was a member of the Key Club, National Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and the Junior Classical League.
