Austen Izzio

Austen Izzio is in his first year at Tulane as the Player Development Assistant. He works primarily with the first baseman, and helps assist with the infielders and hitters.
He arrives at Tulane after spending the 2024 season as the Director of Player Development/Operations at Arkansas State University where he primarily worked with the infielders, hitters and coached first base on a team that won 21 games. In his role he also oversaw the team’s day-to-day operations, managed team travel and handled a variety of off-field the duties.
Izzio spent the previous season at Southwest Mississippi Community College as an Assistant Baseball Coach. As a member of the Bears, he coached the team’s corner outfielders and first baseman and aided the program to 23 victories.
During his time with Southwest Mississippi, the program finished in the top five history in at bats, hits, home runs, doubles, RBI’s, runs scored, walks, on base percentage, slugging percentage, stolen bases, and fielding percentage and he helped lead a 40 percent increase in batting average – as the program ranked top 10 in program history - while coaching three All-Conference players, a conference hitter of the week, an NJCAA Gold Glove Winner and the first 20+ win season and first playoff appearance in last 10 years.
Izzio also has an extensive playing career making stops at Pearl River Community College, Southern Miss, and finishing up at Charleston Southern University.
