2005: Appeared in one game as a true freshman before receiving a medical redshirt...lone appearance of the year came vs. Marist (3/5) when he allowed two runs on two hits in 1.0 inning of relief...off the diamond, was a member of the Conference USA Commissioner[apos]s List and Tulane[apos]s 3.0 Club.
High School: Three-year letterman at Elkins High for coach Rick Carpenter...rated a Top 50 Prospect by Collegiate Baseball...for his career, posted an 11-1 record with a 1.91 ERA and 105 strikeouts in 73.1 innings of work and helped the Knights win back-to-back state 5A titles in 2002 and 2003...was 2-0 with a 0.47 ERA as a senior before having his season shortened by an elbow injury...as a junior, earned first-team All-District 20-5A honors after going 8-1 with a 2.01 ERA and 79 Ks in 52.1 innings pitched in helping Elkins win the regional championship...pitched for the 2003 U.S. Junior National Team during their domestic tour, including a combined shutout against the Southwest Missouri All-Stars when he tossed four shutout innings and struck out three in a starting role...also selected to the Area Code games in 2002 and 2003...off the diamond, was a member of the National Honor Society and English Honor Society, and received the All-State Academic Award...as a member of the Boy Scouts of American, attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
