Brian Yale enters his sixth season with the Green Wave, and fourth as the team's associate head coach after having served for two years as the program recruiting coordinator and assistant coach. Yale began his first year on the Tulane Green Wave volleyball coaching staff on Jan. 13, 2016.

Tulane's recruiting classes in 2018 (Yvette Burcescu, Makala Heidelberg, Kayla Dinkins, Taylor Henigsman and Amanda Giardina), 2019 (Oona Bruss, Jillian Dits, Lauryn Green and Lizzy Stefanov) and 2020 (Anna Davis, Sophia Ervanian and Mackenzie Martin) have received honorable mention status according to PrepVolleyball.com, all sitting just outside of the nation's top 50 signing classes.

Yale brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Green Wave program. Yale comes to Tulane after having served as an assistant coach with the Clemson Tigers in 2015. Prior to that, Yale was the head coach at the University of Texas-Pan American from 2011-14 and an assistant at Stephen F. Austin from 2005-10. From 1995-2005, Yale was the head coach at Genoa High School in Genoa, Ohio.

At Clemson, two Tigers, in Leah Perri and Keelie Arneson led the ACC in statistical categories in 2015 under Yale’s guidance. Perri ranked first in the league and 19th in the NCAA in attacks per set (12.13) while ranking first in the ACC and 25th nationally in total attacks (1,358). Arneson averaged 5.24 digs per set, good for first in the league and 18th in the NCAA while pacing the league with 576 digs.

As the head coach at UTPA, Yale went 37-86, guiding his 2014 squad to the Western Athletic Conference Tournament; the program’s first appearance in a conference tournament with an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament since 1996. In May 2015, the UTPA program was the
recipient of the NCAA Public Recognition Award for recording a multi-year APR rate in the top-10 percent among all Division I volleyball programs, ranking a perfect 1.000.

Prior to serving as the Broncs’ head coach, Yale was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Stephen F. Austin from 2005-10. At Stephen F. Austin, he helped coach one Honorable Mention All-American, one Southland Conference Player of the Year and 10 All-Southland Conference award winners, among others. He was part of the Lumberjacks’ staff for the program’s first ever NCAA Tournament win, over Alabama in 2006.

Before joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Yale taught and served as the head coach at Genoa High School in Genoa, Ohio from 1995-2005, during which time the volleyball program posted a 121-51 (.703) overall record. He played collegiate volleyball for Bowling Green State from 1993-97, and graduated from the school with a Bachelor of Science in Education (Exercise Specialist) in 1997. A native of Eden, New York, Yale and his wife, Shannon, have three children: Makenzie, Kendall and Braden.
