NEW ORLEANS, La. - Jared Berkowitz pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out a season high eight batters to lead Tulane to a 7-0 shutout and three game sweep of Manhattan on Sunday.
Berkowitz (4-1), who is currently on a 16 scoreless inning streak, gave up two hits and walked one on his way to his fourth victory of the season. This marked Berkowitz?s 30th career win and he is three games shy of breaking the Tulane career win record.
At the plate, Jake Gatureau went 1-for-4 with two RBI, while Beau Hearod was 2-for-4 with two RBI. James Jurries was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, a run scored and one RBI.
The losing pitcher was Ryan Darcy (1-1) who went four innings for the Jaspers and gave up seven runs, two earned, and struck out five.
Tulane plays its first game at Zephyr Field on Tuesday against UNO. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. The games are scheduled to be broadcast on 88.3 FM WRBH and on the internet via www.broadcast.com.
