
Baseball Defeats Cincinnati In Extra Innings

CINCINNATI - Tulane's (17-11-1, 4-2-1 C-USA) Jon Kaplan sent home the winning run in the 10th inning to give the Green Wave its first extra inning victory of the season, 10-1 over Cincinnati (19-7, 4-3 C-USA) on Friday evening.
The Green Wave trailed 7-4 heading into the seventh but a three-run homer by James Jurries knotted the score at seven runs each. Tulane went on to score two more runs in the inning, but the Bearcats scored a pair of runs and sent the game into extra innings. With runners on first and third in the top of the 10th, Kaplan hit his second triple of the season into right field sending Mickey McKee home to give Tulane a 10-9 advantage.
Both Jurries and Jake Gautreau hit home runs for Tulane. Gautreau was 3-for-5 with two RBI, a double and two runs. Jurries was 3-for-4 with a game high three RBI and two runs.
Brandon Belanger (1-2) picked up his first win of the season as he pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Belanger struck out two.
UC's Ryan DiEduardo (1-2) got the loss. He gave up one hit and one run in 1 2/3 innings of work.
