NEW ORLEANS - Freshman Matt Foster pitched the first complete game of his career on his birthday Tuesday evening leading Tulane (20-11-1) to a 4-1 win over Nicholls State (16-16).
Foster (3-1) scattered four hits through nine innings. He struck out four, walked one and held the Colonels scoreless through seven innings. The only run Foster gave up was in the eighth inning.
At the plate for the Wave, Mickey McKee was a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored. Steve Shirley was 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored. James Burgess also drove in a run for the Green Wave.
David Bourg (3-7) got the loss for Nicholls State as he went 5 2/3 innings and gave up four runs. Jason Wilkerson drove in the Colonel's only run, he was 1-for-4 on the evening.
Tulane travels to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette for a 7:00 p.m. game against the No. 4 Ragin Cajuns.
