
Green Wave Volleyball Wins Sixth-Straight at Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulane volleyball team won its sixth-straight match, 3-1 (28-30, 30-23,30-28, 30-25), over Tulsa in a nationally televised match on CSTV. Sophomore outside hitter Ksenija Vlaskovic tied her career-high with four service aces and set a new career-high with 19 digs and added 25 kills as Tulane distanced itself from the teams chasing Tulane in C-USA standings.
Tulane improves to 23-5 overall, 11-2 in Conference USA.
Junior outside hitter Sara Radosevic, the reigning Conference USA Player of the Week, as well as College Volleyball Update National Player of the Week, added 24 kills on a .347 hitting percentage with 13 digs.
Sophomore libero Jenn Miller, the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week, led Tulane with 26 digs.
Tulsa, 22-6 overall, 9-3 Conference USA, was led by Fabiola Nepomuceno with 27 kills while Julia Silva, the C-USA co-Setter of the Week, added 44 assists.
Junior right side Bridget Wells chipped in 14 kills for the Wave, hitting .353.
Tulane fell behind early, 5-1, in game one, but Vlaskovic recorded four kills as the Wave tied the game at 14-14. Tied 19-19, Tulsa reeled off three-straight points and maintained a 26-22 lead via three consecutive Green Wave errors. A block from Radosevic and middle blocker Jen Linder prior to a service ace from Vlaskovic pulled Tulane to within 27-26, after a pair of attempts ran long, Tulane fought off game point on a kill and block from Radosevic. But Tulsa capped the 30-28 win off a kill from Renee Brooks.
In game two, the Green Wave stormed out to a 6-1 lead behind kills from Radosevic and Wells. Tulane connected on eight of its first 20 attempts with no errors, in holding a 16-8 edge midway through the game. Tulsa cut the margin to 25-20, before Radosevic's kill to the back line and a solo block from freshman middle blocker Shepard helped the Wave take game two, 30-23. The Green Wave hit .317 in the second stanza, led by Radosevic's eight kills in the frame.
Tulsa took a 10-7 advantage into game three, as back-to-back blocks from Julio Silva , helped Tulsa to a 13-11 edge. Wells' delivered a kill to tie the game at 16-16, and then a solo block from Shepard gave Tulane an 18-16 lead. After a pair of kills tied the match at 22-22, the two teams traded points until Tulsa finally emerged with a 28-27 lead. But the Green Wave answered with a kill from Vlaskovic and a block from Linder and Wells to set up game-point, which Wells hammered home for a 30-28 win.
The Wave fell behind in game four, 11-6, before kills from Wells and Radosevic. Tulsa led by five before Radosevic and Vlaskovic posted kills to cut the margin to 16-13. Tulsa led by as many as 20-15, before the Wave rattled off a 9-1 run, highlighted by two kills from Wells and blocks from Linder and Wells, and Wells and Shepard. Vlaskovic provided three kills to close out the match, 30-25, as the Green Wave ended game four with a 15-5 run.
The match will air nationally on CSTV on Tuesday at 9 p.m. CT.
The Green Wave return home for C-USA home matches against Rice (Friday, 7 p.m.) and Houston (Sunday, 1 p.m.). Tulane is unbeaten at home this season, at 9-0 at Fogelman Arena.
