TULANE HEAD COACH Rick Jones
Thoughts on the game
"Ty Wallace had a big hit there for us, there's no question about it. He played well again today and caught well. To knock Ty in from first base, you better hit it pretty good. But he had a great day today for us and that's good to see from a fifth-year senior."
On the play of Anthony Scelfo
"Anthony Scelfo also gave us a great lift. Anthony's a tough kid. He's struggled a lot offensively, but he's really a hard-nosed, resilient guy. Today, we fed off him a little bit. We need to have more of those kind of personalities in our lineup who are producing. Today, I thought he gave us a big lift. The football mentality is the analogy that should be used, but he had a flaw in his swing and really got into a funk that he really had to work hard to get out of. Today was a good day for him. Both of those balls he hit he really drove."
On the relief performance of rookie southpaw Aaron Loup
"When you're going down the same road we've been going down for a while, you have to have something that looks like a real positive happen. I thought Aaron Loup was that on the mound. He shut those guys down. I thought Sean pitched very, very well, but Aaron was really good in relief there. That was tremendous stuff."
SENIOR CATCHER Ty Wallace
On his 3-for-4 performance on Friday
"I just try and go up there and get a hit every time. If it works out, it works out. If not, I'm going to take a hack."
On if he was aware of the fire during his game-winning at-bat
I saw the smoke, but that's happened a million times during the year but nobody leaves. The fire alarm has gone off several times during practice, and we just continue to work through it.
On if he thought that was the biggest hit of the day
"I guess it's a big hit. It got us up and I'm glad it got us up."
CHICAGO STATE INTERIM HEAD COACH HUSAIN MAHMOUD
On the loss following yesterday's come-from-behind win
"It was a little disheartening, but that's baseball. This is what goes with the game. I think we could have scored a little more then we did, but their first pitcher (Morgan) was dominating. I have to give him credit. At one point in the fourth inning, we had about seven strikeouts. It's not too many times where you have that many people early in the game not get on base or do anything. We got there, but didn't get enough of it."
On the Tulane bringing in Aaron Loup after starting Sean Morgan
"They changed up on us a little bit, but I don't think that's what hurt us. I kind of think our concentration was focused so much on the first pitcher that when they did make the change, we didn't make our adjustments."
On the performance of Tulane senior catcher Ty Wallace
"What can I say? He killed us all day. We couldn't get him out. One time, we had the ball in the glove and dropped it, we didn't get the guy out all day. He scored two runs and had two RBI - including the game-winning RBI. We just didn't do a good job on him. We've got to do a better job of pitching to him."
