Third-Seeded Baseball Opens C-USA Tournament Play Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS - After fighting to get into the Conference USA Tournament the past two seasons the Tulane baseball team will take the third seed into the 2012 Conference USA Tournament presented by Trustmark. The Green Wave posted a 37-18 overall mark and finished conference play with a 14-10 record after taking two of three games from Marshall this weekend.
Tulane won six of their eight Conference USA series - including all four of their road sets - with their only two conference losses coming against nationally-ranked Rice and UCF. On the road, the Olive and Blue took two of three games from Memphis, UAB, East Carolina and Houston. At home, Tulane was swept by UCF, lost two of three to Rice, took two of three from Marshall and swept Southern Miss.
The Green Wave will open pool play on Wednesday, May 23 against sixth-seeded East Carolina at 7:00, play their second game versus UAB at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 25 and close out pool play on Saturday, May 26 versus the second seeded Knights of UCF at 11:00 a.m.
Each game of the championship from Wednesday through Saturday will be streamed live on ConferenceUSA.com. The championship game of the tournament on Sunday, May 27 will be televised live by CBS Sports Network, beginning at 1 p.m. CDT. The tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. Regular season champion Rice is the defending tournament champion.
