NEW ORLEANS - Senior Jeremy Schaffer and junior Brandon Boudreaux have both been named to the 2012 Conference USA Baseball All-Academic squad, as selected by the conference sports information directors. The duo each earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors earlier this season and is on the ballot to be considered for Academic All-America honors.
Boudreaux carries a 3.66 GAP in the Freeman School of Business' Management program and has started all 55 games for the Green Wave on the diamond. In the classroom, the junior has been selected to the Conference USA Commissioners Honor Roll during each of his three years on campus and has been selected as the Tulane Student-Athlete of the Week three times. On the field, Boudreaux has earned Conference USA Player of the Week a school-record three times this season and currently leads the conference in runs scored (55).
The junior ranks among the top-ten in Conference USA in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, doubles, triples, home runs, total bases and walks.
A finance major in the Freeman School of Business, Schaffer holds a 3.31 GPA and has been a steady performer in the classroom and on the field during his career. He ranks among the school all-time leaders in a multitude of offensive and defensive categories. A C-USA Commissioners Honor Roll selection all four years on campus, Schaffer currently ranks among the C-USA leaders in nine offensive categories, including home runs, RBIs, total bases and walks.
Schaffer owns a .333 batting average on the season and is a semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award that is awarded annually to the nation's top collegiate catcher based on athletic ability, sportsmanship, team leadership and character.
