No. 18 Bowling Finishes 8th at the Wildcat Invitational

Tulane finished eighth at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Bethune-Cookman at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando, Florida.
"Overall I am pleased with the team's performance this weekend. After a rough start on Friday, the team rebounded and gave a great performance on Saturday, which shows the talent this team has," remarked head coach Hayley Veitch "We will work on a few items in the coming week so that we are better prepared for our next competition. It is always a good weekend when you beat the reigning champions"
The Green Wave got off to a slow start on Friday, finishing 1-4 in baker play. The squad's lone win of the day came against Alabama State, while its losses came against host Bethune-Cookman, No. 16 Monmouth University, No. 10 Fairleigh Dickinson, and No. 3 Arkansas State. At the end of competition on Friday, Tulane had knocked down a total of 4,293 pins earning the team an 11th place standing.
The Green Wave picked up the pace on Saturday, finishing 3-2 in traditional play. Tulane knocked off No. 11 Maryland Eastern Shore, No. 22 Prairie View A&M, and reigning NCAA champions Stephen F. Austin. The Wave's two losses came against No. 8 North Carolina A&T and eventual tournament champions Sam Houston State. The Greenies knocked down an additional 4,787 pins on Saturday raising their total count to 9,080. The team finished the day in eighth place.
Four Tulane Bowlers set personal records on Saturday. Sophomore Tiera Gulum knocked down a career high 238 pins in the Wave's win over Maryland Eastern Shore, while all three freshman recorded their first collegiate scores: Claire Turner bowled for 235 pins against Maryland Eastern Shore, Joanna Hackett bowled for 219 pins against Stephen F. Austin, and Isabelle Lee bowled for 205 pins against Stephen F. Austin.
Michelle Ng led all Green Wave bowlers with 1,023 pins and a 204.60 pin average. Ng finished eighth among all bowlers, with Arkansas State's Jordan Richard taking the top spot.
Tulane went 1-2 in bracket play, to finish the tournament in eighth place. Tulane beat North Carolina A&T, but lost to Fairleigh Dickinson twice. The Wave ended the tournament with 12,231 pins, a 182.6 pin average, and a 5-8 record.
The Green Wave returns to action on November 4th at the Track Kat Klash in Houston, Texas.
