Tulane will face off against Atlantic 10 Conference favorite Dayton on Saturday at 1 p.m. central after the Flyers knocked off Harvard on Friday night. The game will be played at Maine's Memorial Gym and aired live on ESPN3. This will be Tulane's final game of the Maine Tip-Off Tournament.
STARTING FIVE
- Tulane struggled offensively in its season opener against Maine on Friday night but still claimed a 42-34 victory over the Black Bears. That marked Tulane's 13th consecutive season winning its first game.
- Kolby Morgan led the way for Tulane in her 100th career start. The senior scored 18 of the team's points including its last 6, helping the Green Wave break a 34-34 tie with six minutes remaining.
- Kayla Manuirirangi set a new career high with six assists against the Black Bears in her first career start. The sophomore also played a career-best 30 minutes. Meredith Schulte was Tulane's only other scorer in double figures with 10 points and tied her career high with 34 minutes.
- Tulane ended the 2016-17 season with an 18-15 record and reached the third round of the Women's NIT, tying a program record for advancement in that tournament. Tulane finished last year ranking No. 74 in the nation in RPI, and the team reached the national postseason for the eighth straight year.
- In the American Athletic Conference preseason poll, Tulane was picked to finish sixth in the league. Morgan was named Preseason All-Conference Second Team after earning that same honor from the league in the 2016-17 postseason.
SERIES HISTORY – DAYTON
- Saturday's game will be the Green Wave's first ever meeting with the Flyers.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
- Dayton earned its spot in Saturday's game against Tulane thanks to a 72-66 victory over Harvard on Friday night. The Flyers got 20 points and 22 rebounds from senior JaVonna Layfield in the win. Jenna Burdette (17) and Jayla Scaife (13) also scored in double figures.
- The Flyers were picked to win the Atlantic 10 Conference in the league's preseason poll. Burdette was named to the Preseason First Team while Alex Harris was on the All-Defensive Preseason Team.
- Dayton is the defending A-10 champion and has reached the NCAA Tournament in seven of the last eight seasons. The Flyers finished the 2016-17 season with a 21-10 record and were led by Shauna Green in her first year coaching the team.
- Last season, Burdette averaged 12.0 points per game for Dayton while Layfield averaged 8.3 points and 7.6 boards. Harris was the team's leading shot blocker with 62.
HUGE CLOSEOUT
With Friday's contest against Maine tied at 34-34 with five minutes left, the rest of the night belonged to Tulane. The Green Wave scored the next 8 consecutive points to finish the game, not allowing Maine to score a point of any kind for five straight minutes. A Harlyn Wyatt layup with 2:53 remaining would be the eventual game winner, and it was followed by a Kolby Morgan 3-pointer and three Morgan free throws to seal the game.
NOT BREAKING 40
Tulane held Maine to just 34 points on Friday, marking the first time a Green Wave opponent has not reached 40 since March 16, 2015 against Houston. Maine was limited to just 4 points in the second and fourth quarters in their loss.
FLAWLESS PASSING NIGHT
Sophomore point guard Kayla Manuirirangi got her first career start against the Black Bears and did not waste any time showing off her passing skills. Manuirirangi finished the game with six assists and no turnovers, setting a new career high with those six assists. She also played in a career-best 30 minutes of action.
PLAYING ALL 40
Already second all-time in Tulane history with an average of 32.1 minutes played per game, senior Kolby Morgan began her final year with the team by playing all 40 minutes against Maine on Friday. She led the team with 18 points and also had a team-high nine rebounds. Morgan led Tulane in rebounding nine times last year and topped the Green Wave in scoring in 25 of 33 gamges.

- Kolby Morgan brought down her 500th career rebound and started her 100th career game.
