
Women's Hoops Headed to Lake Charles for Game Against McNeese State

NEW ORLEANS – Back in Louisiana but not back at home, the Tulane women's basketball team will head to Lake Charles to face McNeese State in a Wednesday-night clash. Tipoff at Burton Coliseum is set for 7 p.m.
The Green Wave's game with the Cowgirls will be broadcast in New Orleans on WRBH 88.3 FM, and live streaming video can be seen through McNeeseSports.com with a subscription purchase.
STARTING FIVE
1.   Tulane is returning to the United States from the Bahamas where it had the hottest shooting night in program history. Against San Diego State in the Junkanoo Jam on Saturday, the Green Wave sank 15 3-pointers in an 80-46 victory, breaking the team record of 14 made 3s in a game.
2.   Kolby Morgan scored 44 points for the Green Wave over the weekend and was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly Honor Roll. She moved up to fifth all-time in team history in scoring, surpassing her high school coach and former Green Wave player, Barbara Farris.
3.   Morgan is currently the fifth highest-scoring active player in women's college basketball. She is 17th nationally in points per game with 22.3.
4.   Kayla Manuirirangi had the two best games of her career in the Bahamas, scoring 19 points against Iowa State and following that with 18 against San Diego State. The sophomore also had 11 combined assists and seven made 3-pointers in her 65 minutes.
5.   Wednesday will be Tulane's sixth game away from home out of seven on the season. Tulane opens the year with seven of its first eight games on the road before playing five straight at home.
SERIES HISTORY – McNEESE STATE
•   McNeese State and Tulane have met 23 times in their history with the Cowgirls leading by a slim 12-11 margin. Tulane could tie the all-time series at 12-12 with a victory on Wednesday.
•   Tulane has won the last nine games in the series dating back to 2001, but McNeese State won the first 10 games in the series from 1976-1988.
•   Last year, the teams met in Fogelman in Devlin with the Green Wave earning an 82-65 win. Kolby Morgan scored 26 points and Meredith Schulte had 13 in the victory.
SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
•   The Cowgirls, based in Lake Charles, Louisiana, are 3-2 on the season. Their three victories have come over two lower-division teams (Southern-New Orleans and LSU-Alexandria) and one Division I team (ULM). Their two losses have come against Texas and Grambling State.
•   Keara Hudnall is McNeese's leading scorer with 12.2 points per game. Caitlin Davis is also in double figures with 10.4 points per game. In the rebounding category, Jasmyn Carswell grabs 6.8 boards per night while Bre'Ashlee Jones brings down 6.4. Davis is also the team's leading passer with 7.6 assists per game.
•   Last season, McNeese was 14-17 on the season and 8-10 in the Southland Conference. The Cowgirls advanced to the Southland Tournament semifinals before losing to Stephen F. Austin.
ROAD WARRIORS
The Green Wave's game at McNeese State be their sixth road game of the season. Seven of the Green Wave's first eight games of the year are being played on the road before five consecutive home games in December.
SHE'S NUMBER FIVE
Tulane senior guard Kolby Morgan finds herself near the top of the nation's active career scorers list. With 1,768 points in her career as of Monday morning, Morgan is the fifth-highest scoring active player in the nation. Ohio State's Kelsey Mitchell tops the list at 2,775 points, Michigan's Katelynn Faherty is second at 2,148 points, Mississippi State's Victoria Vivians is third with 1,867 points, South Carolina's A'ja Wilson is fourth with 1,809 and Morgan is next in line.
Morgan is also ninth in the nation among active players in field goal attempts, 10th in field goals made, 16th in steals, 16th in points per game and 19th in 3-pointers made, 3-point attempts and made free throws.
WHERE MORGAN RANKS THIS YEAR
Morgan is already having a stellar year for Tulane, ranking in the top 25 in the nation in multiple categories. As of Tuesday morning, Morgan is eighth in the country in made 3-pointers with 23, 25th in the country in 3-point attempts with 51, 10th in made 3-pointers per game at 3.83, 17th in points per game with 22.3 and 20th in total points with 134. Morgan is also 47th in made field goals with 43 and 67th in field goal attempts with 90.
LIGHTING UP THE AZTECS
Tulane set a new school record on Saturday against San Diego State, knocking down 15 3-pointers in a 34-point victory. The team's previous single-game record was 14 against Nicholls State in 2008. The Green Wave's 15 made 3-pointers is the single best performance in the AAC so far this year. No other conference team has made more than 11 3-pointers in a game.
MORGAN'S NEW BEST
Included in Tulane's 3-point outburst on Saturday was Kolby Morgan and her big scoring day. The senior had 27 points including seven made 3-pointers, a new personal best. Morgan had previously hit six 3-pointers in a game this season and once last year as well.
EVERYBODY PLAYS, SCORES AND REBOUNDS
In the Green Wave's blowout of San Diego State, every player on the roster was able to score at least 1 point. When senior Caylah Cruickshank knocked down a free throw late in the game, she was the final member of the roster to score. Every player on the team also saw at least 11 minutes of action and every player also brought down at least one rebound.
LOFTON GETS IN
Junior Tatyana Lofton got her first minutes of the season against San Diego State, recording 15 minutes of play. The transfer scored 2 points, had three rebounds and even added an assists during her time on the court.
FREEMAN BIG ON THE BOARDS
Freshman Krystal Freeman had her biggest performance of the season against the Aztecs, playing 19 minutes and grabbing seven rebounds. Freeman also scored her first career points, putting up 4 and adding two assists.
PASSING WELL
As a team, Tulane had its best passing performance of the season vs. San Diego State. Tulane put up 21 assists, marking the first time all year the team had more than 20 assists. Tulane's previous season high for assists was 17. The team last had more than 20 assists on Nov. 12, 2016 against Grambling State.

•   Kolby Morgan made her 200th 3-pointer.
