Baseball Travels to Face Southern Miss Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane baseball completes a five-game road swing and tries to halt its six-game slide with a trip to longtime rival Southern Miss at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Pete Taylor Park.

This will be the 155th meeting between the Green Wave (1-6) and Golden Eagles (6-1), a series the Wave leads 95-59. The game will be broadcast on 88.3 FM WRBH and the TuneIn Radio app, and live stats will be available on www.TulaneGreenWave.com.
Series History
Tulane leads the series, 95-59. The Green Wave won twice last season, including a 12-7 victory in Hattiesburg on March 22. The Golden Eagles won both meetings in 2015. The schools have met twice each of the last two years, continuing a long-standing rivalry that includes co-membership in Conference USA from 1996-2014 and the Metro Conference from 1990-95.

Hitting Streaks
Hunter Williams has hit safely in six straight games, and has reached base in all seven contests this season. Grant Witherspoon and Jarret DeHart have each hit safely in three straight games, and Jake Willsey has a five-game reached base streak.

Thievery Denied
Through the first seven games of the season, senior catcher Jeremy Montalbano has caught seven runners trying to steal, and picked off another runner at second base.

The Green Wave has hit nine home runs in the first seven games of the season, including four against Southeastern Louisiana on Feb. 21. Four players – Hunter Williams, Jarret DeHart, Jake Willsey and Hunter Hope – each have two home runs.
