Baseball Faces McNeese State, ULL in Midweek Action

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane baseball is set for two midweek contests, beginning with its home game against McNeese State at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The Green Wave then travel to Lafayette to face No. 16 Louisiana-Lafayette at 6 p.m. Wednesday at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

The Green Wave enter the week 6-13 on the season and winners of three of four, coming off a weekend series win over Columbia. McNeese State is 15-5, and ULL is 11-6 with a home game against Houston Tuesday. The games will be broadcast on 88.3 FM WRBH and the TuneIn Radio app, and live video (Tuesday) and live stats (both games) will be available on www.TulaneGreenWave.com. For $2 Tuesday, select concessions items will be priced at $2.

Wednesday's contest at ULL is the rescheduled game of a March 7 rainout. The Ragin' Cajuns will return the visit to New Orleans on April 18.

This will be the 33rd meeting between Tulane and McNeese State. Tulane leads the series, 30-12. This is the first meeting since 2014, a 3-2 (10 inn.) Tulane win in New Orleans.

This will be the 88th meeting between Tulane and Louisiana-Lafayette. Tulane leads the series, 44-43. The teams split two meetings last season, with each team winning on its home field. Tulane won 5-3 at home, and ULL won 9-2 at their home field. The Green Wave has won six of the last 10 meetings since 2006.

• Three players have started all 19 games for the Green Wave this season: Grant Witherspoon, Jarret DeHart and Hunter Williams. Jake Willsey has played in all 19 games with 18 starts.
• Among Tulane's six wins, four have been by one run. The exceptions were a 6-0 shutout of West Virginia on March 4 and a 7-0 shutout of Columbia on March 17.

Grant Witherspoon and Hunter Williams have each been recognized by the American Athletic Conference on its weekly honor roll this season. On March 20, Williams was recognized after hitting .636 with a .733 OBP and 1.272 slugging percentage, three doubles, a home run, four RBI and five runs scored in Tulane's March 17-19 series win over Columbia.
