
Baseball’s Hunter Williams and Jarret DeHart Named to All-Louisiana Team

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane baseball first baseman Hunter Williams and designated hitter Jarret DeHart were named to the 2017 All-Louisiana baseball team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Williams was a first-team All-Louisiana selection at first base, and DeHart was a second-team selection at designated hitter. The players, who both completed their senior seasons in 2017, join other Louisiana college baseball players on the team, which was selected by the state's sports writers and sports information directors.

Williams, a native of West Monroe, La., batted .357, recording 87 hits, 41 RBI, 45 runs scored, 18 doubles, 11 home runs and 140 total bases, compiling a .574 slugging percentage and a .404 on-base percentage. He was a part of a school-record 65 double plays turned by the Green Wave defense, contributing on an individual program-high 61 double plays. He recorded multiple hits in 29 games and multiple RBI 10 times, and reached base safely in 53 of 58 contests.

DeHart, a Medford, N.J. native, led Tulane with 49 RBI and 13 home runs, and was second on the team with 27 extra base hits. He batted .280 with 14 doubles, 41 runs, 30 walks, a .531 slugging percentage and a .371 on-base percentage. He tallied 15 multiple hit games and 11 multiple RBI contests, while playing in a career-high 56 games.

Williams, a First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-America and the American Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Year, received his degree in neuroscience in May, while DeHart is working toward his degree in marketing.
