Q1: How have you spent your summer?
I've been fortunate enough to play in the Cape Cod League this summer. It's always hard missing out on family time back home in Colorado, but it has been an incredible experience up in the Cape. The competition here has been unlike anything I've ever seen, and it has been fun playing against and with some amazing college players from all over the country.
Â
Q2: What have you learned about yourself as a baseball player while playing in the Cape Cod League?
I've learned that I really do love baseball more than I can describe. There are tough times for everyone in this very challenging league, but I've learned that even through times like that, I really do love coming to the field every day.
Â
Q3: Have you enjoyed the experience and the challenge of competing with some of the best college players in the country?
I have always considered myself the most competitive player on any field that I'm on. It has been amazing getting to compete against the type of pitching that I have seen this summer. Pretty much every pitcher that I have gotten to face is considered the staff ace at their respective school, and I really have loved competing against that every day. I really can feel myself improving. Any player here is good enough to expose your weaknesses, and I have been working throughout the summer to improve my game in multiple ways.
Â
Q4: Have you picked up anything from your experience on the Cape that you can bring back to Tulane baseball next season?
I have picked up a lot of confidence from my experience on the Cape. I am going to take that confidence into fall ball and the season in the spring. I hope that dealing with ups and downs here will help me in the future with staying more consistent throughout the course of a long season.
Â
Q5: What have you done in your spare time away from baseball while on the Cape?
My family came out and visited for a little bit, and it was awesome hanging out with them. On our few off days, the team usually goes to the beach and relaxes. I've also been able to see teammates Sal Gozzo and Luke Glancy on my off days, since Luke lives close and Sal is playing really well in Plymouth which is right next to the Cape.
Â
Q6: What do you look forward to the most about the 2017-18 season at Tulane?
I look forward to how all of the new pieces will come together to have a successful season. I am looking forward to getting back to campus to see all of the returning guys and to meet all of the new guys we have coming in!
