NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane men's basketball team hosts UConn in its fifth American Athletic Conference game of the season on Saturday, January 13 at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
Tipoff is set for noon (CT), as the game will be televised nationally on ESPNews and available on the WatchESPN app. Dave Lamont will handle play-by-play responsibilities, while Tim Welsh provides color commentary.
HISTORY LESSON
• Saturay's meeting between the Green Wave and Huskies will mark the 6th all-time, as UConn has won each of the first five matchups.
• Last season, the teams met just once in a contest that took place in Storrs, Conn., as the Huskies earned a 78-68 victory, despite five Wave players scoring in double figures in the game.
• The last time Tulane and UConn met in New Orleans was Jan. 2, 2016, as the Huskies held on for a 75-67 win, despite surrendering 17 straight points during a stretch in the second half.
LAST TIME OUT
• Melvin Frazier scored a career-high 28 points, and despite scoring 58 second-half points, Tulane suffered a 96-89 conference defeat at Memphis Tuesday night.
• Frazier shot 10 of 15 overall while making seven of nine free throws to go with a game-high five steals, while Jordan Cornish added a season-high 19 points with four 3-pointers made. Ray Ona Embo compiled 15 points, made four treys and led all players with six assists, as Cameron Reynolds had 11 points, four boards, four assists, two blocks and a pair of steals. Samir Sehic scored 11 points and made three treys off the bench.
• Jeremiah Martin scored a game-high 31 points and went 15-for-15 at the free throw line to lead five Memphis (11-6, 2-2 AAC) players in double-figures. Mike Parks, Jr., added 16 points, as Kyvon Davenport had 15 and Jimario Rivers chipped in 12 off the bench. Jamal Johnson also had 10 points.
• The Green Wave shot 21-for-35 (.600) overall in the second half, including 9-for-16 (.563) beyond the 3-point line, while outscoring the Tigers, 21-5, off turnovers in the period.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
• Picked to finish fifth in the American Athletic Conference preseason poll, UConn returned just five letterwinners and one starter from last year's club, including all-league first-teamer Jalen Adams. He ranks second in the American in scoring (18.5 ppg), fourth in assists (4.2) and fifth in steals (1.7).
• After losing four straight, the Huskies have rebounded with consecutive home wins over ECU and UCF, but own a 1-6 record this season in games played away from their friendly confines.
• UConn leads the conference in free throw percentage (.764), but is 11th out of 12 teams defending the 3-point line (.364) and last in field goal percentage (.405) and assists per game (9.6).

ONA EMBO EMERGES
• Known for his defensive prowess as a freshman in 2016-17, sophomore point guard Ray Ona Embo has broken through on the offensive side of the ball in 2017-18.
• Ona Embo played in all 31 games and made 25 starts last season, averaging 6.4 points on 37 percent shooting overall, while making 25 percent (13 of 52) of his 3-pointers. • While his seventh point of the night gave him 1,000, Reynolds poured in a season-high 28 points in the effort and moved from No. 37 to No. 34 on the school's all-time scoring list in that game alone.
