
Green Team Claims Angry Wave World Series

NEW ORLEANS – With a 12-0 win for the Tulane Blue team in game three of the 2018 Angry Wave World Series, game four proved to be pivotal as the Tulane Green team rebounded by winning 7-0 and claiming the squad's annual fall intersquad series.
After two big wins by the Tulane Green team in games one and two, the Tulane Blue team stormed back with a 12-0 win in game three to make it a 2-1 series. Looking to tie it up in game four, the Green team pitched a shutout and won 7-0 to put the series out of reach for good with one game remaining.
In Sunday's contest, a nine-run opening inning set the tone as the Tulane Blue team would score a run in the third, fourth and sixth, producing 11 hits on the afternoon. The Tulane Green team would muster just three hits, unable to get anything going offensively on the day.
Five players earned two hits in the win for the Blue team, as Blake Johnson went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored, Brendan Power went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored, Grant Mathews going 2-for-3 with three RBIS and two runs scored and Blake Johnson going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Hudson Haskin hit the first home run of the series in his 2-for-4 outing, scoring twice.
Trent Johnson earned the win on the mound for the Blue side, pitching three shutout innings as he struck out four and walked two. Justin Campbell and Landon Boeneke combined to strike out four and walk two allowing just a hit each.
The top of the order for the Green side in Jonathon Artigues, Kobi Owen and Luke Glancy had all three hits. Brendan Cellucci suffered the loss, getting tagged for seven of the 12 runs, giving up five hits with three walks in 0.2 innings of work.
Tuesday's contest saw the Tulane Green team score a pair of runs in the second inning and never look back, combining to score five runs in the fourth and fifth and cruise to the series-clinching victory.
A trio of players finished with two hits for the Tulane Green team, with Collin Burns going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. David Bedgood belted a home run among his two hits and scored twice, while Logan Stevens went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
Artigues drove in two runs with his only hit of the day, while Aaron McKeithan scored twice with a hit and a walk.
Josh Bates struck out two and allowed just one hit in his only inning of work as the starter to earn the victory, as Robert Price had the longest outing for the squad as he struck out three in his three innings of work.
Trevor Jensen, Stephen Sepcich and Sal Gozzo had all of the Tulane Blue team's hits. Chase Solesky struck out four for the opposition but allowed two runs on three hits in 2.2 innings of work in taking the loss.
The final game of the Tulane Baseball Angry Wave World Series is set for Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The contest is free and open to the public.
