NEW ORLEANS - Enduring its longest losing streak of the season, the Tulane men's basketball team looks to snap a three-game skid and earn its first American Athletic Conference regular season series sweep of the year against East Carolina on Wednesday, February 14.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CT) at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse, and the game will be televised nationally on ESPNews with streaming available on the WatchESPN app. Taylor Zarzour will call play-by-play action, while Julianne Viani provides color commentary.
HISTORY LESSON
• Wednesday's meeting between the Green Wave and Pirates will mark the 24th all-time, as Tulane leads the series, 13-10.
• The teams last met January 31 in Greenville, N.C., as Tulane escaped with a 71-69 overtime victory - the fourth overtime period played in the last three meetings at ECU.
• Melvin Frazier led all players with 22 points to complement eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and a pair of blocks, while Cameron Reynolds contributed 16 points and seven boards.
• Shawn Williams led five ECU (8-13, 2-8 AAC) players in double-digit scoring with 15 points, while Kentrell Barkley compiled 12 points, 18 rebounds and four assists.
LAST TIME OUT
• Tulane had its lowest scoring output in two years, dropping a 73-42 road contest at Houston on Sunday night.
• Melvin Frazier led the Green Wave with 11 points, while Cameron Reynolds scored nine points and grabbed double digit rebounds for the third game in a row with 11.
• Devin Davis led the Cougars (19-5, 9-3 AAC) with a game-high 16 points, as Armoni Brooks produced a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards, as Houston committed just eight turnovers in the contest.
• The Wave scored 15 points in the first half and trailed by 24 at intermission - its lowest-scoring half and largest halftime deficit of the season.
• Tulane shot 14-for-49 (.286) overall, 3-for-16 (.188) from 3-point range and 11-for-17 (.647) at the foul line, while the Cougars shot 26-for-58 (.448) from the field, 8-for-25 (.320) beyond the arc and 13-for-15 (.867) at the free throw stripe. Houston owned a 40-31 rebounding edge and outscored the Wave, 24-12, in the paint, 13-6 off turnovers and 24-10 off the bench.
SCOUTING THE PIRATES
• ECU ranks 11th of 12 teams in the conference in scoring defense (72.6), scoring margin (-5.9), free throw percentage (.647) and turnover margin (-2.4), and last in 3-point field goal percentage (.282), but are third defending the 3-point line (.320).
• Dimitri Spasojevic is second in The American in field goal percentage (.585), Isaac Fleming is second in assists per game (4.9) and Kentrell Barkley is fifth in rebounding (7.5).
FIVE AVERAGING DOUBLE-DIGIT POINTS
• As of February 12, Tulane is one of just 24 teams in NCAA Division I men's basketball, and one of just two in the American Athletic Conference, with at least five active players averaging double-digit points per game.
• Melvin Frazier (16.3), Cameron Reynolds (15.6), Samir Sehic (10.5), Jordan Cornish (10.0) and Ray Ona Embo (10.0) are responsible for 84.2 percent of the Green Wave's scoring.
• SMU is the only other team in the conference with at least five, and in fact, is one of just three teams nationally along with Villanova and Gonzaga with six players averaging at least 10 points per game.
MARDI GRAS UNIFORMS
• The Green Wave wore Mardi Gras-themed uniforms to celebrate Carnival season for the first time in program history for four games ahead of Fat Tuesday, beginning Jan. 31 at ECU and ending Feb. 11 at Houston.
• Tulane auctioned off 10 of the jerseys on its website over a period of seven days ending February 13, as profits will be reinvested into the program and Tulane Athletics.
SLATER'S SHINY START
• Colin Slater earned his second start of the season in the overtime loss at Tulsa on February 8 and matched a career-high with 14 points, while setting personal bests in field goals made (5), assists (7) and minutes played (44).
• Slater's last 14-point performance came during his first collegiate game and start on Nov. 11, 2016 against 6th-ranked North Carolina.
FRAZIER'S FINEST
• Melvin Frazier is the only player in NCAA Division I men's basketball shooting at least 55 percent from the field and averaging at least 2.3 steals per game this season.
• He has nine 20-point performances and three double-doubles, while his .589 shooting percentage leads all players in the American Athletic Conference.

• Tulane has had players named to the American Athletic Conference's weekly honor roll on four occasions this season, including Samir Sehic (Nov. 13), Cameron Reynolds (Jan. 8) and Melvin Frazier twice (Jan. 15 and Jan. 22).
MAN OF STEALS
• Melvin Frazier ranks first in the American Athletic Conference in steals (52) and steals per game (2.3), and has at least three heists in 11 contests this season.
• As a sophomore, Frazier finished the 2016-17 regular season No. 1 in the American Athletic Conference in steals per game (1.9), while his 55 takeaways ranked second overall.
BRINGING THE RAIN
• The Green Wave have made double-digit 3-pointers in seven games this season, including in three straight games against Alcorn State (14) on Nov. 29, at North Carolina (10) on Dec. 3 and vs. Southern (10) on Dec. 6.
• Tulane's 14 treys against Alcorn State and at Memphis on Jan. 9 were not only season highs, but tied for the third most in a single game in program history.
• The Wave have hit at least 14 3-pointers just six times in school history, with the most being 16 in a 2015 matchup against UCF.
