NEW ORLEANS – Tulane will head north to Memphis this weekend, ready to take on the Tigers at Elma Roane Fieldhouse. Tipoff against Memphis is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m.
Sunday's game will be televised live on ESPN2 with Roy Philpott and Brooke Weisbrod on the call. The game will also be broadcast on the radio in New Orleans on WRBH 88.3 FM with Gus Kattengell providing commentary.
STARTING FIVE
- Tulane played things close for one quarter against Cincinnati on Saturday, but the Green Wave turned the ball over 15 times in the first half as Cincinnati pulled away for an 83-52 victory.
- Tulane's Kolby Morgan became the program's all-time leading player in field goals attempted against Cincinnati, now with 1,728 field goals. She surpassed Stacey Gaudet's 1,723.
- Meredith Schulte led Tulane in total points with 12 on Saturday and scored in double figures for the second consecutive game. Schulte had not previously reached double figures since January 6.
- Kolby Morgan has a shot at breaking the program record for career points by the end of the year. Morgan is just 135 points away with Tulane playing a guaranteed five games more. If Tulane plays as many games as it did last year (eight more), Morgan will need to average 16.8 points per game to break the school record.
- Since joining the AAC for the 2014-15 season, the Green Wave holds a 33-31 record in conference play. Tulane has finished fifth in the league standings during all three of its seasons. Tulane is 19-26 all-time against Memphis, and the Tigers have won two straight in the series.
SERIES HISTORY – MEMPHIS
- Tulane and Memphis have a longstanding rivalry that dates back to 1979. The teams have played 45 contests since then with Memphis holding a 26-19 edge.
- In recent years in the rivalry, the series has been fairly event. Tulane has won seven of the 11 games since 2009, but Memphis won both contests last year and is on a two-game winning streak against Tulane.
- When the teams squared off in 2017, the Tigers won a 55-52 contest in New Orleans and a 57-56 matchup in Memphis.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- The Tigers, based in Memphis, Tennessee, hold a 7-18 record so far this year and are 2-10 in the American Athletic Conference. Their two league wins have come against ECU and Tulsa.
- The Tigers are currently on a eight-game losing streak dating back to January 17.
- Brea Elmore is the team's top scorer with 14.7 points per game. She is trailed closely by Cheyenne Creighton's 14.3 points per game.
- Creighton is the team's top rebounder with 8.1 boards per game. Breigha Wilder-Cochran has a team-best 3.3 assists per game.
TULANE IN THE AAC
Since joining the AAC for the 2014-15 season, the Green Wave holds a 33-31 record in conference play. Tulane has finished fifth in the league standings during all three of its seasons. This is Tulane's fourth season in the league after spending the previous 19 seasons in Conference USA.
SECOND-BEST SCORER EVER AT TULANE
Entering the February 3 game against USF, Kolby Morgan needed just three points to move up to second place all-time in team history. She scored those points in the first quarter, officially passing Stacey Gaudet and her 2,080 career points. Morgan now has 2,125 points, 134 away from the school record held by Grace Daley.
If Tulane plays only five more games on the year, Morgan would break the program record by averaging 27 points per game. If Tulane plays eight more games this year – the same as it did in 2016-17 – Morgan could break the program record with 16.8 points per game. She is averaging 19.8 points per game this year.
BREAKING THE FIELD GOAL ATTEMPT RECORD
Besides setting her sights on the Tulane points record, Morgan is now the record holder for two other Tulane marks. She broke the program's all-time starts record in late January, and on Saturday at Cincinnati became Tulane's all-time leader in field goals attempted. Morgan has now attempted 1,728 field goals, surpassing the 1,723 taken by Stacey Gaudet.
SCHULTE TOPS TULANE
For the second consecutive game, Meredith Schulte broke double figures when she put up 12 points against Cincinnati on Saturday. Schulte scored six of her 12 points at the free-throw line, tying her career high with six made free throws in the process.
ACCURATE SHOOTER
With a 54.1 percent field goal percentage this year, Meredith Schulte ranks near the top of the American Athletic Conference. Schulte, who has made 80 of her 140 field goal attempts this year, is seventh in the league in that shooting percentage and third among non-UConn players.
SIXTH IN THE NATION
Tulane senior guard Kolby Morgan finds herself near the top of the nation's active career scorers list. With 2,125 points in her career as of Wednesday morning, Morgan is the seventh-highest scoring active player in the nation.
Morgan is also 10th in the nation among active players in field goal attempts, 12th in field goals made, 18th in steals and 18th in free throws made.
WHERE MORGAN RANKS THIS YEAR
Morgan is having a stellar year for Tulane, ranking in the top 50 in the nation in multiple categories. As of Wednesday morning, Morgan is 37th in the country in total points with 491, 40th in points per game at 19.6, 39th in free throw attempts with 144 and 31st in field goal attempts with 398.
OUTREBOUNDING = OUTSCORING
The Green Wave are now 8-3 this season when outrebounding opponents and 3-10 when the opponent grabs more rebounds. In victories, Tulane has combined for a +49 rebounding margin. In losses, the Green Wave are a combined -130.

Coming up soon:
- Caylah Cruickshank needs eight more rebounds for 100.
