NEW ORLEANS – Back on the road this weekend, the Tulane women's basketball team will look to build on its Wednesday win when it heads to Cincinnati on Saturday. The Green Wave and Bearcats are set for a 12 p.m. central tipoff.
Wednesday's contest will air live GoBearcats.com. The game will also be broadcast on the radio in New Orleans on WRBH 88.3 FM with Gus Kattengell on the call.
STARTING FIVE
1.   Tulane was locked in a tight contest with Temple on Wednesday, but the Gren Wave controlled the fourth quarter and was able to pull away from a 69-65 win, breaking a three-game losing streak and a five-game losing streak against Temple.
2.   Kolby Morgan led the team with 25 points, her first game with more than 25 points since January 13. Morgan has now scored at least 20 points 13 times this season.
3.   Meredith Schulte had her best game in months, putting up 14 points and grabbing six rebounds. The game saw her highest score since November and her first double-digit scoring game since January 6.
4.   Kolby Morgan will likely break a Tulane record on Saturday against Cincinnati. She is currently 10 field goal attempts away from the program record of 1,723 field goal attempts held by Stacey Gaudet.
5.   Since joining the AAC for the 2014-15 season, the Green Wave holds a 33-30 record in conference play. Tulane has finished fifth in the league standings during all three of its seasons. Tulane is 15-15 all-time against Cincinnati and has won the last four meetings.
SERIES HISTORY – CINCINNATI
•   Tulane and Cincinnati go way back, with the teams having met 30 times since 1979. The Green Wave and Bearcats are knotted up at 15 wins apiece.
•   Tulane is on a four-game winning streak over Cincinnati including wins last year of 62-51 and 74-68 (OT).
•   In that overtime win last year, Kolby Morgan set her career high with 35 points.
•   Cincinnati's last win against Tulane came in 2005. The teams did not play between 2006 and 2013.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
•   The Bearcats, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, hold a 14-10 record this season and are 6-5 in the American Athletic Conference. Most recently, Cincinnati broke a three-game losing streak by defeating Wichita State on the road.
•   Cincinnati's conference wins have come against ECU, Houston, Temple, Memphis, SMU and Wichita State. They have lost to USF, Tulsa, ECU, UCF and UConn.
•   Nikira Goings is the Bearcats' most dangerous scorer, putting up an average of 12.3 points per game this year. Ana Owens and Iimar'I Thomas are also capable scorers with 10.9 points per game this year.
•   Thomas, a freshman, has 5.8 boards per game on the year but Shanice Johnson and Angel Rizor lead the team with 6.0 rebounds per game. Owens is the team's top passer with 4.0 assists per game.
TULANE IN THE AAC
Since joining the AAC for the 2014-15 season, the Green Wave holds a 33-30 record in conference play. Tulane has finished fifth in the league standings during all three of its seasons. This is Tulane's fourth season in the league after spending the previous 19 seasons in Conference USA.
SECOND-BEST SCORER EVER AT TULANE
Entering the February 3 game against USF, Kolby Morgan needed just three points to move up to second place all-time in team history. She scored those points in the first quarter, officially passing Stacey Gaudet and her 2,080 career points. Morgan now has 2,114 points, 145 away from the school record held by Grace Daley.
If Tulane plays only six more games on the year, Morgan would break the program record by averaging 24.1 points per game. If Tulane plays nine more games this year – the same as it did in 2016-17 – Morgan could break the program record with 16.1 points per game. She is averaging 20.0 points per game this year.
FOURTH QUARTER DOMINANCE
With Tulane holding a narrow 50-49 lead with 7:11 to play against Temple on Wednesday, the Green Wave went on a 7-0 run over the next two minutes that finally gave the team some space from the Owls. All told, Tulane hit seven of its final nine shots from the field while Temple made just 8 of 18 shots in the fourth quarter.
SCHULTE STRONG OFF THE BENCH
Junior Meredith Schulte had one of her best games of the year against Temple, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds and 5 of 10 shooting from the field. Schulte had not broken double-digit scoring in a month and had not scored more than 12 points since the second game of the year on November 11.
WELLS TIES HER SEASON HIGH
Maddison Wells continued to play good minutes for Tulane off the bench, tying her season high with 7 points and three made field goals against Temple.
ABOUT TO BREAK THE FG RECORD
Kolby Morgan has her sights set on another Tulane record, one she is almost certain to break on Saturday at Cincinnati. Morgan has taken 1,713 field goal attempts in her career, and the school record is currently at 1,723 held by Stacey Gaudet. Morgan averages 13 field goals attempts per game over her career.
SHE CAN PASS, TOO
Kolby Morgan is known for her scoring, but the senior has been on quite a run of passing lately. Morgan is averaging 4.2 assists per game during conference play, leading Tulane in that category against AAC foes. Morgan has had at least five assists in five league games including nine against Houston on January 6. In conference-only games, her 4.2 assists per game puts her third in the league.
SIXTH IN THE NATION
Tulane senior guard Kolby Morgan finds herself near the top of the nation's active career scorers list. With 2,114 points in her career as of Thursday morning, Morgan is the sixth-highest scoring active player in the nation.
Morgan is also 10th in the nation among active players in field goal attempts, 11th in field goals made, 24th in points per game and 18th in steals.
WHERE MORGAN RANKS THIS YEAR
Morgan is having a stellar year for Tulane, ranking in the top 50 in the nation in multiple categories. As of Thursday morning, Morgan is 23rd in the country in total points with 480, 33rd in points per game at 20.0, 37th in free throw attempts with 138 and 22nd in field goal attempts with 383.
