NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane volleyball garnered some national praise on the recruiting trail as PrepVolleyball.com tabbed the program's 2018 signing class among the nation's best.
The website listed the Green Wave's incoming crop of five newcomers just outside of its top 30, which will be unveiled next week, but among the country's top 55 classes in the group of "Highest Honorable Mentions." The freshmen include outside hitter Yvette Burcescu (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas), outside hitter Makala Heidelberg (Winter Garden, Fla./West Orange), middle blocker Kayla Dinkins (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny), setter Taylor Henigsman (Richardson, Texas/JJ Pearce) and setter Amanda Giardina (Slidell, La./Northshore).
"We feel like we have five players coming into the program who are going to help us compete for an American Athletic Conference championship," head coach Jim Barnes said. "This is a group that can do it. It know it's the highest-ranked class, but it's also probably the best class that's ever come into Tulane. We're not only bringing in talent, but high-quality people as well, and we're looking forward to the upcoming season.
