Â
SCOUTING MCNEESE STATE
After winning the Southland Conference championship and earning an automatic bid to last year's NCAA Tournament, the Cowgirls (0-1) enter Friday's matchup coming off a 6-1 road loss at TCU last weekend. McNeese is led by senior Giovanna Fioretti who played No. 1 singles all of last season and clinched last year's conference championship match, while senior Charoline Erlandsson posted a 15-6 singles record and a 17-4 doubles mark in 2018.
Â
SCOUTING SOUTHERN
The Jaguars (0-1) dropped a road match at UL Lafayette last weekend in their season opener. They will make their third trip to New Orleans in as many years, as the Green Wave have scored consecutive 4-0 wins each of the last two seasons.
Â
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA
Sunday will mark the Lions' first match of their 2019 spring after posting a 6-14 record last season. It will also be their first meeting with Tulane since the 2014 spring when the Green Wave tallied a 5-1 home victory.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
Tulane dropped the doubles point but fought back to score a 4-3 comeback victory over Northwestern State last Friday. The Lady Demons also won the first singles match for an early 2-0 advantage, but the Green Wave stormed back to win four consecutive singles matches on courts one (Laura Fabrizi), three (Ivone Alvaro), four (Christina Sisti) and five (Daniela La Fuente) to clinch the decision.
Â
DUAL SINGLES WIN STREAKS
Junior Christina Sisti has won nine straight decisions in dual matches dating back to last spring. She finished 2018 with eight consecutive victories and won her first match of 2019.
Â
5-STAR SIGNEES
Head coach Maria Brito and assistant coach Keri Wong have left their imprints on the recruiting trail since their arrival, and their efforts paid off in a big way in November during the NCAA Early Signing Period. The Green Wave reeled in two 5-star recruits according to tennisrecruiting.net with the additions of Lahari Yelamanchili and Mackenzie Clark.
Â
Yelamanchili is the No. 1 ranked player in Illinois and the No. 50 overall player in the class of 2019, while Clark is a Morristown, N.J. native who trains in College Park, Md., ranking No. 3 in the state and No. 77 nationally.
