SCOUTING LSU
The Tigers (3-0) enter Friday's match holding a No. 18 national ranking in the Oracle/ITA national team rankings released Wednesday afternoon and are coming off wins over Clemson and Tennessee at last weekend's ITA Kickoff in Tallahassee, Fla., where they clinched an automatic bid to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. LSU is led by sophomore Eden Richardson who is the nation's 13th-ranked singles player, while senior Kennan Johnson is ranked No. 72 in the poll. In doubles, sophomore Taylor Bridges and junior Paris Corley own a 3-0 record and hold a No. 30 national ranking.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
Tulane (4-0) recorded a pair of 4-0 shutouts at home to complete a doubleheader sweep of Southern and Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Alex Alegre compiled a perfect 2-0 record at No. 6 singles and a 2-0 mark at No. 3 doubles, while junior Christina Sisti also posted a 2-0 day in singles, earning a pair of straight-set wins from the No. 4 spot in the lineup.
Â
THE DOUBLES POINT
Tulane has won the doubles point in three of four matches this season, including three straight contests. The Green Wave did not secure the point in the season opener against Northwestern State, but still walked away with a 4-3 victory in the overall match.
Â
5-STAR SIGNEES
Head coach Maria Brito and assistant coach Keri Wong have left their imprints on the recruiting trail since their arrival, and their efforts paid off in a big way in November during the NCAA Early Signing Period. The Green Wave reeled in two 5-star recruits according to tennisrecruiting.net with the additions of Lahari Yelamanchili and Mackenzie Clark.
Â
Yelamanchili is the No. 1 ranked player in Illinois and the No. 50 overall player in the class of 2019, while Clark is a Morristown, N.J. native who trains in College Park, Md., ranking No. 3 in the state and No. 77 nationally.
