
Gibson Leads Green Wave at the White Sands Invitational

NASSAU, Bahamas – Senior Haydyn Gibson led the Tulane women's golf team at the White Sands Invitational with a total score of five-over 221 to place tied for 34th. As a team, the Green Wave finished 13th with a total score of 25-over 889.
Gibson shot three-over 75 in the final round. She logged a first round even-par 72 and a second round two-over 74 in the two days prior. Gibson recorded 10 birdies over the three rounds.
"We played another solid round of golf today," Green Wave head coach Stew Burke said. "Unfortunately, we just really never got the breaks to get anything going. Overall, we did well as a group and there are a lot of positives to build upon as we move into the spring season."
Junior Jennifer Rosenberg placed tied for 41st with a total score of six-over 222. She shot one-over 73 in the final round with five birdies. Rosenberg recorded her best round with an one-under 71 in the second round. The Laurel Hollow, New York, native had eight birdies over the three rounds.
Freshmen Carlota Palacios and Hanna Liu closed the tournament tied for 48th with total scores of seven-over 223.
Palacios shot one-over 73 in the final round to go with her rounds at three-over 75 in the first and second rounds. She recorded seven birdies in three rounds of play.
Liu registered a two-over 74 in the first and third rounds of play. She posted a three-over 75 in the second round. Liu logged seven birdies and one eagle over the three rounds.
Senior Gabrielle Correia placed 78th with a total score of 18-over 234. Correia's best round came in the second round with a three-over 75. She logged four birdies over the three rounds.
No. 3 Texas won the team title with a score of 36-under 828. The Longhorns' Sophie Guo took the individual title with a score of 17-under 199.
This tournament closed the fall season for Tulane. The Green Wave will be back in action on Feb. 16 at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans.
