NEW ORLEANS – After opening the season with a three-game sweep of the George Washington Colonials, the Tulane Green Wave return to action with a two-game series against the Lamar Cardinals beginning Tuesday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
First pitch for the single set of games on Tuesday and Wednesday is set for 6:30 p.m. in New Orleans, with coverage of the game on WRBH 88.3 FM and a live stream of the game at TulaneGreenWave.com.
The first 150 fans through the Turchin gates on Tuesday will receive a free Tulane baseball t-shirt, while the concession stands will feature select items for $2.
A thrilling first week of action ended on Sunday as Tulane clinched the sweep with a 16-6 win over the Colonials, the second consecutive year the team has opened the year by sweeping their first opponent.
Not content with leaving the walk-off nature of wins in 2018, the Green Wave produced two in the first two days with a ninth-inning one on Friday and forcing extras in the ninth and winning in extras on Saturday. Sunday the bats officially woke up with 14 hits driving in 16 runs on the afternoon.
The Green Wave got production throughout the lineup and on the mound, from both veterans and newcomers alike. Junior Kody Hoese earned a spot on the league's weekly honor roll after leading the team in hits and batting average over the weekend, while freshman Hudson Haskin used his first college hit to belt the team's first grand slam of the year.
Kaleb Roper pitched seven shutout innings on Friday in the opener, while freshman Krishna Raj came on in relief Saturday and dealt six innings of scoreless baseball in earning his first collegiate win in the 13-inning game two.
It'll be a battle of unbeatens, as Lamar comes into the two-game set off of a sweep of LIU Brooklyn in Beaumont over the weekend.
