NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane baseball team returns to action on Tuesday night, hosting the McNeese State Cowboys at 6:30 p.m. at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
A live stream of the game will be available at TulaneGreenWave.com, with 88.3 WRBH having radio coverage of the contest with Gus Kattengell providing play-by-play.
The first 250 fans through the gates at Turchin will receive a Tulane baseball t-shirt, with $2 hot dogs at the stadium concession stand.
The Green Wave open the second of three consecutive weeks at home looking to bounce back after a tough series against the UCSB Gauchos over the weekend. While falling in all three contests over the weekend, Tulane comes into the matchup with the Cowboys with a 10-6 overall record as one of three teams in the American with double figure victories.
Offensively, Tulane sports a .316 batting average which is 16th nationally, while the team's 137 runs through 16 games is eighth in the country. With 25 home runs, the Olive and Blue are fourth nationally in that category, with a .526 slugging percentage that is fifth in college baseball.
Leading that charge is junior Kody Hoese, the Griffith, Indiana, native whose eight home runs is fourth in the country, and 0.50 home runs per game average seventh. His 52 total bases are seventh nationally, as he currently leads the conference in all three categories.
Freshman Hudson Haskin leads the team individually with a .378 batting average, sitting third on the team in RBI with 16 and second with a .676 slugging percentage. Trevor Jensen has 12 multi-hit games on the year to lead Tulane, as he and Hoese are tied for the team lead in hits with 26.
Seeing action in five games already this season, freshman Krishna Raj will take to the mound for his first collegiate start on Tuesday against McNeese, as the Florida native struck out a season-high seven batters in his latest appearance on Friday in the opener against the Gauchos.
McNeese comes into the contest with a 10-6 record as well, taking two of three over the weekend against ULM in Monroe. The Cowboys will counter with right-handed junior Daniel Hecker, who is making his first start after five appearances in relief.
This is the first meeting between the two sides since 2017, when Tulane defeated the Cowboys 10-2 in New Orleans.
