NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women's tennis team returns to action at home for the first time in over a month when the Green Wave hosts Middle Tennessee on Sunday, March 17. First serve is scheduled for noon at the City Park Tennis Center.
Â
Sunday's match will begin one hour before the Tulane men's tennis team takes the courts at 1 p.m., against Pepperdine. It will be the second men's and women's home doubleheader this spring.
Â
SCOUTING MIDDLE TENNESSEE
The Blue Raiders (5-9) enter Sunday's match with losses in three of their last five outings, with their most recent setback coming in a 4-3 decision at Marshall on Friday. Luisa Zirilli is the lone singles player holding a winning record this season with a 9-4 overall mark, including a 4-1 ledger when playing at the No. 6 spot in the lineup. She is 5-3 when playing on court five.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
Tulane dropped a tough road match at No. 27 UCF, 4-1, on Friday, March 8. The Green Wave won the doubles point with a pair of 6-4 victories on courts one and two, including an upset by Elena Muller and Ivone Alvaro over the nation's No. 18 doubles tandem.
Â
IN THE ITA RANKINGS

Â
THE DOUBLES POINT
Tulane has won the doubles point in nine of 15 matches this season. The Green Wave's lone victory while not securing the point came in the season opener against Northwestern State, where Tulane walked away with a 4-3 victory.
Â
5-STAR SIGNEES
Head coach Maria Brito and assistant coach Keri Wong have left their imprints on the recruiting trail since their arrival, and their efforts paid off in a big way in November during the NCAA Early Signing Period. The Green Wave reeled in two 5-star recruits according to tennisrecruiting.net with the additions of Lahari Yelamanchili and Mackenzie Clark.
Â
Yelamanchili is the No. 1 ranked player in Illinois and the No. 50 overall player in the class of 2019, while Clark is a Morristown, N.J. native who trains in College Park, Md., ranking No. 3 in the state and No. 77 nationally.
