Women's Tennis Falls at No. 27 UCF, 4-1
Mar 8, 2019 | Women's Tennis
The Green Wave (5-10) fell behind with a setback at No. 3 doubles, but responded and got on the scoreboard early with two impressive victories, as their 62nd-ranked duo of Elena Muller and Ivone Alvaro held on for a 6-4, upset win over 18th-ranked Ksenia Kuznetsova and Valeriya Zeleva at the No. 1 position. It marked their second win over a top-40 doubles team this spring and their first since defeating the 40th-ranked duo at Texas Tech on February 15.
With the first team point hanging in the balance on court two, Laura Fabrizi and Daniela La Fuente were able to clinch with a 6-4 win of their own over Domenika Turkovic and Natalia Serrano.
The Knights (11-2) put their clamps down in singles however, winning the first set on all six courts, before earning straight-set victories at No. 1, No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Tulane returns home next weekend to host Middle Tennessee on Sunday, March 17. First serve is scheduled for noon at the City Park Tennis Center.
