NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane track & field teams will be close to home and far away this weekend with two members of the team competing at the Brian Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, and the bulk of the team squaring off against regional competition at the LSU Alumni Gold meet.
Out in California, Emmanuel Rotich will run in the 5K at the Bryan Clay Invitational. His 5K will take place at 10:20 p.m. central time. Mckenzie Melius will also run the steeplechase Thursday at approximately 6:20 p.m.
FloTrack will be live streaming the meet at a cost, and that stream can be accessed here.
In Baton Rouge, the majority of Tulane student-athletes will be competing Saturday at Bernie Moore Stadium. Action begins at 10 a.m. with the long jump, and field events will continue throughout the afternoon. On the track, events will begin in the morning with B sections of events and will conclude in the afternoon with A sections of events. The meet is scheduled to conclude at 4:15 p.m. with the 4x400 relays.
Tulane is coming off an incredible weekend in the state where it claimed 11 event victories on the women's side on its way to winning the Cole-Lancon Conference Challenge. The Green Wave got victories from Trina Malej (two), Aldrianna Dupree (two), Kyah Loyd, Maya Harewood, Mckenzie Melius, Emma Newton, Rebekah Markel, Olivia Hicks and the 4x400 relay team.
On the men's side, Evans Kipchumba won the 3K and James Thomas Watson set a new personal best in the javelin to highlight Tulane's fourth-place finish in Lafayette.
Following this weekend's action in Baton Rouge and California, Tulane will reunite as one group for the Southern Miss Open in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on April 26-27. That will be the Green Wave's second-to-last regular-season meet of the year.
