
Women’s Tennis Travels to Charleston for Two Matches

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women's tennis team embarks on its final road trip of the regular season with two matches in Charleston, S.C., scheduled for April 7-8.

The Green Wave (9-12) will play at Charleston Southern at 1 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, before heading across town to play at College of Charleston on Monday at noon.

SCOUTING CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
The Buccaneers (8-8) have won three of their last four matches, but are coming off a tough, 4-3 home loss to Delaware on Thursday afternoon. CSU is led by Filippa Ericson's 9-6 combined singles record playing at the top three spots in the lineup. In doubles, Ericson and Kimberley Koerner stand as the Bucs' top doubles tandem with a 10-5 mark this spring, including an 8-1 ledger at the No. 3 spot.

SCOUTING COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
The Cougars (12-8) will play two road matches at James Madison and Elon on Saturday and Sunday before meeting the Green Wave. Turner Yates leads the team with a 12-3 singles record this spring, including an 11-3 mark at the No. 5 spot in the lineup. Christi Woodson is 12-6 overall with all of her decisions coming at No. 1. In doubles, Woodson and Anastasia Palaska own a 10-6 mark playing on court one.

LAST TIME OUT
Tulane completed a home doubleheader sweep against Nicholls State and the University of New Orleans on Wednesday, April 3. The Green Wave earned a 4-2 win over the Colonels, before defeating the Privateers by a 5-2 count.

IN THE ITA RANKINGS
In the latest Oracle/ITA national rankings released on March 19, the doubles duo of Ivone Alvaro and Elena Muller are listed at No. 41 nationally. The duo owns a 17-4 overall record and a 15-3 mark at the top spot in the lineup this spring. Their season-high ranking was No. 25 on February 20.

THE DOUBLES POINT
Tulane has won the doubles point in nine of 16 matches this season. The Green Wave's lone victory while not securing the point came in the season opener against Northwestern State, where Tulane walked away with a 4-3 victory.

5-STAR SIGNEES
Head coach Maria Brito and assistant coach Keri Wong have left their imprints on the recruiting trail since their arrival, and their efforts paid off in a big way in November during the NCAA Early Signing Period. The Green Wave reeled in two 5-star recruits according to tennisrecruiting.net with the additions of Lahari Yelamanchili and Mackenzie Clark.

Yelamanchili is the No. 1 ranked player in Illinois and the No. 50 overall player in the class of 2019, while Clark is a Morristown, N.J. native who trains in College Park, Md., ranking No. 3 in the state and No. 77 nationally.
