NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Tulane baseball team begins the final week of the 2019 regular season on Tuesday night, hosting the South Alabama Jaguars at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. in New Orleans.
Todd Graffagnini will be on the call from the stadium, with the game airing on WRBH 88.3 FM locally in New Orleans. A link to a video stream and live stats will both be available at TulaneGreenWave.com.
The Green Wave will close the year with a run of four games in five days beginning on Tuesday night, taking on the Jaguars before ending the conference slate with a series against the UConn Huskies beginning on Thursday in New Orleans.
Both Tulane and South Alabama come in with identical 29-22 overall records, as the Green Wave sports a 20-12 record at home in Greer Field in Turchin Stadium. South Alabama has won their last eight games coming into the contest on Tuesday, sweeping Appalachian State in Boone last weekend.
Ending its run of road games last weekend, the Green Wave had to grind through a long couple of days in Houston, Texas, splitting a marathon doubleheader on Saturday against the Cougars before dropping the finale after having to turn around and play just 12 hours later.
Another victory and Tulane will have reached the 30-win mark for the first time since 2016 and 35th time in program history, while already sitting at double figure wins in the conference for the fourth time in five years.
On Monday, junior Kody Hoese was named for the third time to the league's weekly honor roll after hitting a pair of home runs against Houston to jump back into a tie for first place nationally with 23 on the season. That number is tied for second all-time in a single season in Tulane history, as the Indiana native continues his assault on the Green Wave record book.
In line to make his first-ever career start is sophomore left-handed pitcher Justin Campbell, who with one more call to the mound will crack into the top 10 all-time in appearances in a single season with his 29th of the year, with three games and the conference tournament still left to play after that.
Tulane and the Jaguars are meeting on the diamond for the first time in eight years on Tuesday, with the last meeting coming back in the 2011 season as South Alabama defeated Tulane 8-6. South Alabama has a slim lead in the all-time meetings, winning 26 games to Tulane's 22.
