
Palacios Leads All Golfers After Round Two of Bettie Lou Evans Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman Carlota Palacios led the Tulane University women's golf team in the second round of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28 with a score of one-under 71. The Green Wave is tied for seventh as a team at 20-over 596 after the second round.
Palacios teed off from the first hole and logged her first birdie on the par-four second hole. She also registered a birdie on par-four sixth hole. On the back nine, Palacios did not record a bogie and had birdies on the 13th and 16th holes. The Vitoria, Spain, native finished the day with a score of one-under 71. After two rounds of play, she is first at four-under 140.
Freshman Sandra Vazquez logged a round at even-par 72. She recorded birdies on the ninth, 10th, 13th and 17th holes. After the second round, she is tied for 51st at 11-over 155.
"We adjusted well today and played the back nine much better," Green Wave head coach Stew Burke said. "I was pleased to see Sandra fight back from a poor start to shoot even and Carlota backed up yesterday's round with another red number. There were lots of other positives for the group and I'm looking forward to getting back out tomorrow and finishing strong!"
Junior Jennifer Rosenberg added a score of three-over 75. She eagled the par-five 13th hole and birdied the par-three third. Rosenberg is tied for 39th at nine-over 153 heading into the third and final round.
Freshman Hanna Liu also shot three-over 75 in the second round. She recorded birdies on the fifth and 10th holes. She will head into the third round tied for 29th at seven-over 151.
Senior Haydyn Gibson rounded out the Green Wave lineup with a second round score of five-over 77. She had birdies on the seventh and ninth holes. Gibson is tied for 61st at 13-over 157 going into tomorrow's final round.
Kentucky leads all teams at four-under 572. Palacios is tops on the leaderboard individually at four-under 140. The third round will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Sunday.
