LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman Carlota Palacios led the Tulane University women's golf team with a second place finish at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational. The Green Wave placed sixth as a team with a total score 22-over 886.
"I feel that we made progress today in terms of our tournament play," Green Wave head coach Stew Burke said. "We had 4 good counting scores and finished our round strong. Our young line-up is gaining valuable tournament experience and I'm seeing improvements in the group collectively. We've got some time at home to recharge and brush up on mistakes before our next event. Although we have a ways to go to reach our true potential as a team, I'm pleased with the way our tournament play is starting to improve."
Palacios finished the three-day tournament with a round at one-over 73 to tie for second. She logged a three-under 69 in the first round and a one-under 71 in the second round. The Vitoria, Spain, native recorded three birdies in the final round and a team-high 12 for the tournament.
