NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's basketball team will continue American Athletic Conference play as it travels to play SMU on Wednesday, Jan. 15. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in Dallas.

STARTING FIVE
1.        Tulane has made two 17-plus-point comeback wins on the road this season. The Green Wave rallied back from down 18 points in the third quarter at Washington. The Olive and Blue trailed by 17 in the third quarter at Southern Miss and came back to win.
2.        The Green Wave have won at the buzzer twice this season. Junior Arsula Clark hit a layup for the win at Washington and junior Krystal Freeman knocked down a 15-foot jumper as the final buzzer went off to secure the win over Tulsa.
3.        Junior Arsula Clark was named to the AAC Honor Roll Monday, Jan. 13 after leading the Wave to two conference wins and posting a career-high seven steals vs. Tulsa. This is the third time she earned the honor this season.
4.        Tulane leads the American Athletic Conference and ranks 36th in the NCAA in 3-point field goal defense as it has held opponents to 26.5 percent from behind the arc.
5.        Tulane has started league play 3-0 for the second time in the six years the Green Wave have played in the American Athletic Conference.

SERIES HISTORY – SMU
• Tulane leads the all-time series with SMU 23-14. Last season, Tulane took the first meeting between the two teams with a score of 61-43 in Dallas. SMU grabbed the second game between them, 64-60, in New Orleans.
• Prior to the last meeting, the Green Wave had won eight straight games against SMU.
• The Olive and Blue are 11-8 against the Mustangs in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
• The Green Wave have collected a 19-12 overall record against SMU under head coach Lisa Stockton.

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
• SMU brings a 7-8 overall record and a 1-2 conference mark into the game with the Green Wave.
• The Mustangs are coming off an 85-62 loss at Temple.
• SMU has averaged 58.0 points per game on 35.7 percent shooting this season.
• The Mustangs have averaged 43.6 rebounds and forced opponents into 15.1 turnovers per game. SMU ranks 16th in the NCAA in rebounds per game.
• Sophomore JaQuia White leads the team with 10.6 points per game, while junior Johnasia Cash pulls down a team-high 9.4 rebounds per game.
• Cash chips in 10.3 points per game.
• Freshman Reagan Bradley is tops on the team and third in the AAC with 4.3 assists per game. She adds 9.6 points per game.
• Head coach Travis Mays has collected a 47-62 record during his four seasons in SMU.

• Tulane is 42-45 in American Conference play.
• Under coach Stockton, Tulane is 230-161 in conference games.

LAST MATCHUP
• The Mustangs took the last matchup between the two teams, 64-60, on Feb. 24, 2019.
• SMU took a 58-45 lead early in the fourth quarter, but the Green Wave fought back to cut the lead to four. Tulane could not make the game closer than four and the Mustangs took the win.
• Krystal Freeman led the team with 19 points and seven rebounds.
• Sierra Cheatham added 15 points, while Kaila Anderson logged eight assists.
• Arianna Whitfield led SMU with 24 points. Johnasia Cash recorded 14 points and 12 rebounds.

COMEBACK KIDS
• The Olive and Blue trailed by 18 points with 1:24 remaining in the third quarter at Washington. Tulane then went on a 31-11 run to close the game and take a 64-62 win.
• Junior Arsula Clark knocked down the game winner with 0.5 seconds remaining to cap off the comeback. She scored 14 of her game-high 18 points in the second half.
• The Green Wave made another comeback as they rallied from down 17 in the third at Southern Miss. on Dec. 4 and pulled out the win.
• Tulane went on a 23-3 run from the six-minute mark in the third to the 8:19 mark in the fourth quarter to take the lead over the Lady Eagles and finish the game with a win.
• Clark scored 17 of her 20 points in the second half to lead the charge.

DOUBLE DOUBLE-DOUBLES
• Juniors Arsula Clark and Krystal Freeman both logged double-doubles against South Alabama. Clark recorded 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Freeman added 12 points and 12 boards.

• This was the first time two Tulane players registered double-doubles in the same game since Tiffany Dale (12
points and 12 rebounds) and Chinwe Duru (13 points and 11 rebounds) achieved the feat on Dec. 28, 2013 against Northeastern.

• Junior Sierra Cheatham gets it done on and off the court. She is currently averaging 5.7 points and 4.3 rebounds on the court. The Houston native registered at 4.0 GPA while majoring in neuroscience in the fall semester.

CHEATHAM GETS 500
• With a fourth-quarter 3-pointer against Memphis on Jan. 11, 2020, junior Sierra Cheatham became the third player on this year's team to eclipse 500 points for her career. Cheatham has now scored 500 points at Tulane with 69.0 percent of them coming from the 3-point line.
• She was named to the AAC Honor Roll on Jan. 6 after posting 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in the win at Wichita State.

IT'S A BLOCK PARTY
• Tulane blocked a season-high 12 shots against Georgia Southern on Dec. 30. This was the most blocked shots by a Green Wave team since the Olive and Blue swatted 12 shots on Dec. 9, 2002 against Drake.
• The Olive and Blue rank 38th in the country in blocked shots per game.
• Sophomore Mia Heide ranks second in the American and 38th in the NCAA in blocked shots per game at 2.1.

THREE-POINT DEFENSE
• Green Wave opponents are shooting 26.5 percent from behind the arc this season. This figure ranks first in the AAC and 36th in the NCAA.
• The good 3-point defense started the 2019-20 season as Jackson State shot 15.8 percent from behind the arc. This was the lowest 3-point percentage by a Tulane opponent since Memphis shot 11.1 percent on 2/2/2019.Â
• Tulane held Central Arkansas to 17.6 percent from 3-point range.
• The Wave held Charlotte to 16.7 percent shooting from behind the arc on Nov. 29.
• The Olive and Blue continued the good defense holding Colorado to 16.7 percent shooting from three on Dec. 21.
• The Green Wave added Georgia Southern to the list of under 20 percent shooting when they held the Eagles to 10.0 percent shooting from behind the arc. This was the lowest mark by a Tulane opponent since SMU shot 6.7 (1-15) percent from behind the arc on Jan. 12, 2019. Â

KEEPING OPPONENTS UNDER 60
• Tulane has held strong on the defensive end holding seven opponents under sixty points thus far this season. The Green Wave are 6-2 when their opponent scores 60 points or fewer.
• Tulane's opponents are averaging 59.4 points per game this season.
• The Green Wave held Jackson State to 46 points on 22.7 percent shooting.Â
• Central Arkansas' 38 total points were the fewest points allowed by the Green Wave since FAMU scored 32 in 2018.
• The Green Wave held Georgia Southern to 40 points on Dec. 30 and Wichita State to 56 points on Jan. 5.

HOLDING THE LEAD
• Tulane has done a tremendous job of getting out front and staying there since last season. The team is 20-1 when it leads games with five minutes left, 16-5 when it leads after the third quarter, 17-5 when it leads at halftime and 15-4 when it leads after the first quarter stretching over the last two seasons.

• The Green Wave will return to Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse as they host Cincinnati on Saturday, Jan. 18. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. as a part of a doubleheader with the Tulane men's basketball team.
