The Blob Shuts Out The Bob, 7-0, in Game One of the Fall Ball World Series

NEW ORLEANS – Redshirt junior Haydan Hastings made a strong offensive statement Friday night at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium, as he drove in a game-high four runs, as the Blob downed the Bob, 7-0, in Game One of the 2020 Fall Ball World Series.
Hastings finished the game by going 2-for-5 with a double and hit out of the No. 5 hole for the Blob. The Blob’s 3-4-5 hitters were the story of the night, as they combined for six hits.
Redshirt sophomore Jared Hart added three hits and a double, while redshirt junior Frankie Niemann also chipped in with a hit and a RBI.
The Blob jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top half of the first inning and never looked back. The Blob would go on to plate runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to secure the win.
Blob starter Braden Olthoff picked up right where he left off in the spring of 2020, as he threw three scoreless innings. The All-American right-hander struck out seven of the 11 batters he faced to pick up the win.
Blob redshirt sophomore Tyler Hoffman and freshman Zach DeVito also turned in strong performances as both tossed scoreless outings.
The two teams return to action on Sunday at Noon for game two of the Fall Ball World Series.
