Freshman Mackenzie Clark broke into the ITA's national singles rankings at No. 103 according to the latest poll released Feb. 5. She became the first Tulane women's tennis player to be listed in the poll since Klara Vyskocilova during the 2014 spring season.
SCOUTING NICHOLLS
The Colonels (1-3) enter Wednesday's match coming off back-to-back home losses to Jacksonville State (5-2) and Samford (6-1) last weekend. Nicholls is led by freshman Laura Lopez, who owns a 2-2 record playing No. 1 singles this spring. Last season, the Colonels posted a 4-16 overall record, which included a 4-2, mid-week defeat against the Green Wave in City Park on April 3.
LAST TIME OUT
Tulane (5-2) got back on track with a tough, 4-3 home win over Samford on Sunday. The Green Wave won the doubles point with a pair of 6-4 wins on courts two and three, respectively, before earning singles wins on courts one, two and four. With the match tied, 3-3, freshman Mackenzie Clark closed out No. 1 singles in three sets, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5, to clinch the match.
