Women's Tennis Drops Road Match at Wichita State, 4-1

WICHITA, Kan. - The Tulane women's tennis team dropped its second straight match in a 4-1 setback against American Athletic Conference foe Wichita State on Saturday afternoon.
The Green Wave (6-4) were in a tight battle in doubles on court one with the score 4-4, but the Shockers prevailed on courts two and three - 6-3 and 6-4, respectively - to clinch the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead into singles.
Wichita State (2-8) continued to apply pressure early in singles, earning straight-set victories on courts three and four, respectively, to push the Wave to the brink, 3-0. Ranked No. 101 nationally, freshman Mackenzie Clark put Tulane on the scoreboard on court one with a hard-fought 7-5, 7-5 victory over Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva. Clark improves to 11-5 overall and 5-0 in dual matches this spring.
However, the Shockers clinched shortly thereafter with a straight-set win on court two.
Tulane remains in Wichita to face UT-Arlington tomorrow at 9 a.m.
