Men’s Tennis Rested, Ready for Road Matches at No. 3 Texas, No. 8 TCU

NEW ORLEANS – Following a 19-day hiatus between matches, the Tulane men's tennis team jumps right back into the fire with a road match in Austin, Texas at reigning national champion and third-ranked Texas on Friday, March 6. First serve is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The Green Wave (5-4) will use their off day to travel north to Fort Worth, Texas to face No. 8 TCU on Sunday at 1 p.m.
SCOUTING TEXAS
The Longhorns (10-3) enter Friday's contest after having their four-match winning streak snapped in a 4-3 road loss at No. 9 NC State last Sunday. They hold a 6-0 record on their home courts this spring. Texas owns three ranked doubles tandems, as Yuya Ito and Christian Sigsgaard own the No. 9 spot, while Sigsgaard and Siem Woldeab combine as the No. 32 duo. Ito and Woldeab slot in at No. 74 nationally.
In singles, Ito is ranked No. 2 nationally, followed by Sigsgaard at No. 6 and Woldeab at No. 44. Ito owns a 25-4 overall record, including an 8-3 mark at the No. 1 spot in the lineup this spring. Sigsgaard is 18-5 overall and 7-2 playing on court two, while Woldeab is 18-10 with an 8-3 mark in dual matches.

The Horned Frogs (9-4) enter a home match against Tulsa on Friday riding a six-match winning streak. They've posted a 5-1 mark on their home courts this spring. In doubles, Alastair Gray and Jacob Fearnley are ranked No. 27 nationally, while Sander Jong and Tadeas Paroulek hold the No. 55 spot.
In singles, TCU has four ranked players, led by Gray at No. 30. Luc Fomba is next at No. 77, while Praoulek is No. 105 and Fearnley stands at No. 119. Gray owns a 6-2 mark at the No. 1 position in the lineup, including a 5-1 mark against ranked opponents.
IN THE RANKINGS
The Green Wave owns a No. 43 national ranking according to the latest ITA poll released on March 3. The Wave also possess two players listed in the ITA's national singles rankings, led by junior Hamish Stewart at a career-high of No. 50 and senior Ewan Moore at No. 72.
STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
Tulane will play a minimum of 10 teams that earned NCAA Tournament bids in 2019, including Stanford, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Texas, TCU, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, UCF and USF. Texas claimed the 2019 NCAA title, while TCU reached the quarterfinals. California, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Stanford all reached the round of 16.
