Ty Johnson Named to American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Tulane senior outfielder Ty Johnson was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll the league announced on Monday after helping Tulane sweep four games last week at home. Â

It's the second time Johnson has been selected to the honor roll and the fifth time a Tulane player has been honored by the conference this season. Braden Olthoff has earned the top pitching honor in consecutive weeks, as Trevor Minder was named to the weekly honor roll this season as well.

The senior from Washington paced Tulane at the plate last week as the team won all four of its games against Texas Southern and Southern University, as the Green Wave pushed their record to 13-2 on the year.

Johnson finished the week hitting .500 on the week, producing seven hits with six RBI and eight runs scored, slugging 1.071 with a .500 on-base percentage against the Tigers and Jaguars. He had a hit in all four games, including multiple hits in two and multiple RBI in two.

Against TSU, Johnson went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored last Tuesday, In the opener against Southern, he had a pair of RBI with a triple and a sacrifice fly and scored twice, adding another hit and run scored in game two to clinch the series.

In the finale against the Jaguars, Johnson finished a double short of the cycle as he went 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored to assist in securing the sweep.

Tulane will be back in action Tuesday and Wednesday, taking on the Lamar Cardinals at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. Â
