NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women's basketball team will welcome No. 16/17 South Florida to Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Jan. 13. Tip-off is set for is set for 6 p.m. The Bulls will be the first ranked opponent the Green Wave have hosted since No. 2 UConn came to New Orleans on Jan. 16, 2019.
STARTING FIVE
1. Freshman Jerkaila Jordan has made a splash early in her collegiate career. She has been honored by the AAC four times. Back on Dec. 14 she was named Conference Player of the Week. She has led the Green Wave in scoring in five of the team's 10 games this season.
2. Jordan currently ranks in the top 10 in the American Athletic Conference in scoring (14.3) and field goal percentage (.454). She leads all freshman in The American in scoring.
3. Senior Arsula Clark earned Preseason Second Team All-AAC honors. She currently ranks third on the team in scoring with a 13.3 points per game average. At ECU, she led the team in scoring with a season-high 28 points.
4. Senior Krystal Freeman earned Second Team All-American Athletic Conference honors last season. She was named preseason first team in the conference as an unanimous selection heading into the 2020-21 season. She currently leads the team, averaging 14.7 points per game.
5. Freeman leads the Green Wave and ranks fourth in the AAC with 8.8 rebounds per game.
SERIES HISTORY – SOUTH FLORIDA
• The Green Wave and the Bulls have met 43 times in program history with South Florida holding a 24-19 edge.
• The Bulls won all three games against Tulane last season. South Florida has taken 15 straight games over the Green Wave dating back to the 2014-15 season.
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton holds a 15-21 all-time record against South Florida in her career at Tulane.
• Tulane has a 7-9 record under Stockton when playing USF in New Orleans.
SCOUTING THE BULLS
• South Florida enters its matchup at Tulane ranked No. 16/17 nationally and carrying a 9-1 overall record and a 6-0 conference mark. The Bulls are riding an eight-game winning streak, including a win over then-No. 6/7 Mississippi State in overtime.
• USF will return to the hardwood after defeating Houston, 80-51, on Jan. 9.
• The Bulls lead the AAC in scoring margin (+18.6), field goal percentage defense (.329), 3-point field goal percentage defense (.200), rebounds (46.7) and assists (17.7).
• South Florida ranks third in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage. The Bulls hold opponents to 53.0 points per game, which is 13th nationally.
• The Bulls share the ball well as they have five players in the top 30 in scoring in the AAC.
• Sophomore guard Elena Tsineke leads the way with 12.0 points per game to rank 15th in the conference, junior point guard Sydni Harvey is second on the team and 22nd in the conference at 10.0 per game and senior forward Bethy Mununga ranks third on the team and 24th in the AAC at 10.2.
• Sophomore guard Maria Alvarez (10.0) and junior Elisa Pinzan (8.3) round out the group ranked 25th and 30th in the conference, respectively.
• Mununga leads the conference and ranks eighth nationally in rebounds per game at 11.8. She had a career day against ECU with 23 points and 21 rebounds on Jan. 2.
• Mununga has logged double-digit rebounds in eight of the Bulls' 10 games this season.
• Pinzan is tops in the conference and ranks third in the country with 7.2 assists per game. She also third nationally in assist/turnover ratio at 5.14.
• South Florida head coach Jose Fernandez is in his 21st season on the bench for the Bulls and has posted a 382-273 mark since arriving in Tampa.
AMONG THE LEAGUE LEADERS
• Tulane ranks among the league's top five in 18 different statistical categories.
• The Green Wave lead the conference in scoring (71.7) and field goal percentage (.431), while ranking second in assists (16.1). Tulane is third in scoring defense (59.6) and field goal percentage defense (.368) and three-point percentage defense (.262).
FREEMAN IS BACK
• Senior Krystal Freeman returns for her senior season after leading the Green Wave in points and rebounds in the past two seasons.
• Freeman scored 15.0 points and grabbed 7.7 rebounds per game last season.
• Last season, the Pineville, La., native ranked sixth in The American in field goal percentage (.454), seventh in 3-point field goal percentage (.351), eighth in scoring (15.0), ninth in rebounding (7.7) and 12th in steals (1.7).• Freeman opened the season with the 18th double-double of her career as she scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against Nicholls.
• She continued to be one of the top players for the Green Wave, as she logged 19 points, eight rebounds and two steals at South Alabama.
• After leading the Green Wave in two wins, Freeman was name the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Jan. 11. She currently leads the Green Wave with 14.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
TULANE VS. RANKED TEAMS
• The Tulane University women's basketball program has an all-time record of 13-82 record against ranked teams.
• The Green Wave last beat a ranked team when they defeated No. 20 LSU, 65-62, in overtime on Nov. 19, 2011 at Fogelman in Devlin.
• The Green Wave have lost 21 consecutive games at the hands of ranked opponents. Tulane have an 0-5 record when facing a ranked USF team.
• The Olive and Blue hold a 1-2 against teams ranked No. 16 with the lone win coming Dec. 6, 1997, against Colorado.
FRESHMAN LEADS THE WAY
• Freshman Jerkaila Jordan currently leads the Green Wave with 31 assists and nine blocked shots.
• She is second on the team averaging 14.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
LOUISIANA TALENT
• Freshman Jerkaila Jordan comes to Tulane after winning four straight Louisiana High School State Championships at John Curtis. She was named the MVP of each championship game.
• Jordan was named the Gatorade Player of the Year and Miss Basketball in the state of Louisiana in 2020. She was also the No. 45 recruit in the nation coming out of high school.
• She opened her collegiate career with 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals against Nicholls.
• Jordan earned AAC Freshman of the Week honors for her efforts against Nicholls.
• She followed that performance up with 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals at South Alabama. The freshman guard shot 2-3 from behind the arc and 4-4 from the charity stripe in Mobile, Ala.
• Jordan was named player of the week from the AAC on Dec. 14.
• The standout freshman earned her third AAC Freshman of the Week Award on Jan. 4, after logging 15 points, three rebounds and three steals in the win over Memphis.
STOCKTON THE LEGEND
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton has amassed 592 NCAA wins in her 30-year coaching career. This number currently ranks 19th among all active Division I coaches. Stockton has the most wins of any coach in the American Athletic Conference.

• Now in her 27th year with the Green Wave women's basketball program in 2020-21 it's hard to imagine anyone else at the helm besides Coach Lisa Stockton. Her numbers are staggering: three different conferences, four conference tournament championships, two conference regular-season championships, six All-Americans, 11 NCAA Tournament berths, seven WNIT spots and 529 wins. No one in the history of Tulane women's basketball is even close to Stockton's career numbers.
