
Spring 2021 Volleyball Positional Preview: Liberos

The third in a three-part series on the spring 2021 Tulane volleyball team.
Three returners and one newcomer make up the liberos on the spring 2021 Tulane volleyball roster — seniors Mia Primavera and Nicole Levine, sophomore Jillian Dits and freshman Sophia Ervanian.
Levine enters year four with the Green Wave after playing in a career-high 18 matches and 57 sets as a junior in 2019. The Gulfport, Florida native recorded a service ace in 11 of her 18 matches, totaling a career-high four aces against Missouri State.
In her first season Uptown, Dits played in nine matches and saw action in 21 sets. The Colleyville, Texas native made her collegiate debut against UTEP, earning a career-high five digs, before earning her first service ace against Cincinnati.
Primavera heads into her final season with the Green Wave after playing in 18 sets in 10 total matches in 2019. The Woodlands, Texas native finished the season with 22 digs and three assists, earning a season-high nine digs in Tulane's win over Wichita State.
Joining the Olive and Blue from Ponte Vedra, Florida is Ervanian, who comes to NOLA after spending three years on Ponte Vedra High School's volleyball team. Ervanian helped the Sharks to two state championship titles, in 2017 and 2019, and was voted the best defensive player in 2016 and 2019. Totaling 469 digs in 83 sets played as a senior, Ervanian was part of the first Northeast Florida public school to win multiple FSHAA volleyball state championships. The freshman also played club for Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association (JJVA) 18N Austin and was a four-year letterwinner on her high school's varsity lacrosse team.
The Tulane volleyball team is set to open its first-ever spring season on Friday, as the team heads to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to take on Southern Miss and UNO in the non-conference tri-match.
