Men's Tennis Begins 2021 with Pair of 6-1 Wins Over Alcorn State

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane men's tennis team collected a pair of 6-1 victories in a home doubleheader sweep of Alcorn State to open the 2021 season Thursday afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center.

The Green Wave posted a perfect 6-0 record in doubles and dropped just five total games across the two matches while claiming five of six singles contests in each matchup.

In singles, sophomore Henry Lovett was Tulane's lone player to earn two victories in two matches played.

After cruising to the doubles point, the Wave picked up singles wins on courts one, two, three, five and six to light up the scoreboard, earning all five victories in straight sets.

Tulane did the same in the second match of the day, sweeping all three doubles contests before winning five matches in straight-set fashion to earn the convincing victory.

Luka Andonov went 2-0 in singles and earned both points for Alcorn State (0-4) on the day, earning a three-set win on court four in the first match. He finished the day with a straight-set win on court three in the second contest.

Tulane makes a quick turnaround and hosts UTSA on Friday, January 22 at 1 p.m.
