
Cross Country Wins Both Team Titles at Nicholls XC Invitational

THIBODAUX, La. – The Tulane University men's and women's cross country teams both took home first place with an impressive showing at the Nicholls XC Invitational on Saturday.
This marks the first time that the men's and women's teams took home wins in the same event since the inaugural Nicholls XC Invitational in 2018.
The women's team posted 33 points with an average time of 20:08:54. The men's team also took the top spot among six teams, tallying 33 points with an average time of 22:01:89.
"Any time you can pick up a team win at the college level you have to celebrate it, Director of Cross Country/Track & Field Adrian Myers said. "This is huge progress for our program and the direction we are heading right now. I couldn't be happier with them."
Senior Therese Olshanski led the way for the women's team, as she finished in second overall with a time of 19:30.92. Tulane's next finisher was junior Laura Croll, who finished right behind with a time of 18:52.23 to grab third overall. the 3rd overall.
Macy Turcotte (sixth, 18:30.32) Brenda Ellis (ninth, 21:21.96) and Abigail Heck (13th, 22:07.37) rounded out the Green Wave lineup.
"Olshanski did a terrific job leading us on the women's side," Myers said. "Croll and Turcotte had a close split too. They continue to get better each week, so I'm excited about that."
On the men's side, junior Evans Kipchumba led the way for the Green Wave, as he finished second overall with a time of 20:59.26. Teammates Tucker Poshard placed third (21:24.16) while Bethwell Tum placed eighth (22:30.76).
"On the men's side, Evan lead us once again with a really strong front run against really good competition." Myers said. "Poshard probably had the race of the day for me. As a freshman, he keeps getting better every week the future is really bright for that young man."
Tulane returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 16, as it heads to Texas A&M to take part in the Arturo Barrios Invitational.
"Now we get back to the drawing board," Myers said. "Keep training, keep progressing. This is a step in the right direction. All progress is good progress."
