Nov 29, 2021 | Baseball
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University baseball team announced today its full 56-game schedule for the 2022 campaign.
Â
The Green Wave's 114th season features 32 games against non-conference opponents, 24 matchups against American Athletic Conference foes and 12 contests with teams from the state of Louisiana.
Â
"Our TEAM and staff are excited about the 2022 baseball season!" sixth-year head coach Travis Jewett. "The players have been investing well throughout the fall preparing for a spring schedule that will not only challenge us in the non-conference, but for the AAC as well as possible post season action! We look forward to seeing all of our great fans back at GFATS – our kids thrive off of your energies and appreciate your support!"
Â
Tulane's baseball slate is also highlighted by 18 games against teams that earned a spot in the NCAA Championship. Among those 18 games, the Green Wave will welcome defending national champion Mississippi State for a three-game home series (March 4-6).
Â
Tulane opens the 2022 campaign against UMass Lowell on Feb. 18 inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
Â
Following its season-opening home series, the Green Wave hit the road for five straight games, as they head to Nicholls State (Feb. 23), NCAA tournament participant Louisiana Tech (Feb. 25-27) and Southeastern (March 1).
Â
The Green Wave will then play 15 of their next 17 games at home with road trips to Southern Miss (March 9) and LSU (March 15) wedged in-between. Both Southern Miss and LSU competed in the 2021 NCAA Championship a year ago.
Â
On March 29, Tulane will open up its crosstown series with the University of New Orleans. The final two games of the three-game series with the Privateers will take place on April 12 and May 3, respectively.
Â
Tulane opens its conference slate on April 1, as it heads North to take on Memphis for a three-game series. The Green Wave's conference slate also features home matchups with NCAA Super Regional participants USF (April 8-10) and East Carolina (April 22-24).
Â
The Green Wave conclude their conference schedule on May 19-21, as they welcome Memphis for their final weekend series of the year.Â
Â
The American Athletic Conference Baseball Championship returns to Spectrum Field in Clearwater, Florida, May 24-29. The winner of the conference tournament will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Â
The top 16 teams chosen by the NCAA tournament committee will be selected as regional hosts June 3-6 in a double-elimination format. The highest remaining seeds will then host a best-of-three NCAA Super Regional series June 10-13 at eight team host sites.
Â
The men's College World Series will be held June 16-26/27 at T.D. Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Green Wave enter the spring in the hopes of building off their successful 2021 campaign where they finished second in the American Athletic Conference – the nation's No. 5-ranked RPI league. Following the regular season, Tulane advanced to the semifinals of the AAC tournament. In addition, Tulane reeled off 12 straight wins – the most in over 20 years.
