
Women’s Basketball Continues Homestand Against Wichita State

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's basketball team will continue its homestand as the Green Wave host Wichita State on Saturday, Feb. 12. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
QUEST FOR 600
• Tulane women's basketball coach Lisa Stockton has compiled 598 wins in her career. With two more wins, she will become just the 77th NCAA women's basketball coach to achieve the feat of winning 600 games in a career. Stockton will be the 19th active Division I head coach with 600 wins.
STARTING FIVE
1. Freshman JerKaila Jordan has made a splash early in her collegiate career. She has been honored by the AAC seven times. Back on Dec. 14 she was named Conference Player of the Week. Jordan has picked up five Freshman of the Week awards this season. She has led the Green Wave in scoring in 10 of the team's 18 games this season.
2. Jordan currently ranks in the top 10 in the American Athletic Conference in scoring (14.9), field goal percentage (.469), free throw percentage (.690) and steals (1.9).
3. Jordan is ninth in the nation among all freshmen in field goal percentage and 11th in points per game. She leads all freshman in The American in both categories.
4. Senior Krystal Freeman leads the Green Wave and ranks fifth in the AAC with 7.6 rebounds per game. She is second on the team and ninth in the conference with 12.7 points a game.
5. Senior Arsula Clark earned Preseason Second Team All-AAC honors. She currently ranks third on the team and 11th in the conference in scoring with a 12.2 points per game average.
SERIES HISTORY – WICHITA STATE
• The Green Wave and the Shockers have met seven times in
program history with Wichita State holding a 4-3 edge.
• Tulane took the meeting between the two teams earlier this season by a score of 57-55 in Wichita State.
• The Green Wave made a point to get to the free throw line shooting 19-27 (.704) on the day, while Wichita State was 4-6 (.667) from the charity stripe.
• Freshman JerKaila Jordan led the Olive and Blue with 18 points, while senior Krystal Freeman and junior Mia Heide led the team on the boards with seven rebounds. Heide also added 10 points and tied her career-high with five blocks.
• Earlier this season, senior Arsula Clark grabbed an offensive rebound and hit two free throws to put the Green Wave up for good with 24.4 seconds to play.
• All seven games have been played during the Lisa Stockton era
at Tulane.
SCOUTING THE SHOCKERS
• Wichita State enters the game carrying a 4-8 overall record and
a 1-6 conference mark. The Shockers are coming off a 65-57 loss to Temple on Feb. 6.
• The Shockers rank third the AAC in 3-point field goal percentage at .317 and field goal percentage at .405. They rank fourth in the conference in scoring offense (62.5) and field goal percentage defense (.382). Wichita State is fifth in The American in 3-point field goal percentage defense at .284.
• Junior Asia Strong leads Wichita State with 14.9 points per
game, a figure that ranks fifth in the AAC. She is third on the
team with 5.8 rebounds per game.
• The junior forward has been named to the AAC Weekly Honor
three times this season. She has scored in double-figures in 11
games for the Shockers this season.
• Junior Seraphine Bastin leads the team with 7.4 rebounds per game. She adds 11.1 points and 4.9 assists per game.
• Bastin is fourth in the conference in assists per game and sixth in rebounds per game.
• Junior forward Trajata Colbert adds 6.3 rebounds and 8.8 points per game for the Shockers.
• Wichita State head coach Keitha Adams is in her fourth season on the bench for the Shockers. She has posted a 46-58 mark since arriving in Wichita.
• Adams previously spent 16 seasons at UTEP. She has collected a 330-267 overall record in her career.
AMONG THE LEAGUE LEADERS
• Tulane ranks among the league's top five in 16 different statistical categories.
• The Green Wave leads the conference in field goal percentage at .430. They rank second the conference in scoring (68.4), scoring margin (+9.2), assists (14.7) and assist/turnover ratio (1.0).
• Tulane is the only team in The American to have three players ranked in the top 11 in scoring. Freshman JerKaila Jordan is third in the conference with 15.7, while seniors Krystal Freeman and Arsula Clark are tied for ninth at 12.9 points per game.
FRESHMAN LEADS THE WAY
• Freshman Jerkaila Jordan currently leads the Green Wave with 14.9 points, 52 assists and 35 steals.
• She is second on the team with 12 blocked shots and 20 made threes and third averaging 4.2 rebounds.
• Jordan has scored in double figures in 15 of the Green Wave's 18 games.
BATES COMES UP BIG
• Sophomore Salma Bates has made a habit of coming up big for the Green Wave recently. She scored the last five points to solidify the Green Wave's 61-59 win over Cincinnati.
• She followed that up by having a career day against Tulsa. Bates posted the first double-double of her career with and led Tulane with career highs of 15 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. The New Orleans native shot 7-9 from the field against the Golden Hurricane.
LOUISIANA TALENT
• Freshman Jerkaila Jordan comes to Tulane after winning four straight Louisiana High School State Championships at John Curtis. She was named the MVP of each championship game.
• Jordan was named the Gatorade Player of the Year and Miss Basketball in the state of Louisiana in 2020. She was also the No. 45 recruit in the nation coming out of high school.
• She opened her collegiate career with 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals against Nicholls.
• Jordan earned AAC Freshman of the Week honors for her efforts against Nicholls.
• She followed that performance up with 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals at South Alabama. The freshman guard shot 2-3 from behind the arc and 4-4 from the charity stripe in Mobile, Ala.
• Jordan was named player of the week from the AAC on Dec. 14.
• The standout freshman earned her third AAC Freshman of the Week Award on Jan. 4, after logging 15 points, three rebounds and three steals in the win over Memphis.
• The New Orleans native earned her fourth Freshman of the Week Honor after tying her career-high with 22 points in the win at Tulsa. She had a career day shooting going 8-9 from the field and 4-4 from three against the Golden Hurricane.
SINGLE-DIGIT QUARTERS
• The Olive and Blue have made a point to be strong defensively under coach Stockton. Tulane held LSU to two points in the second quarter on Nov. 17, 2019.
• The Olive and Blue have held opponents to five or fewer points in a quarter 30 times since the NCAA moved to the four quarters format in the 2015-16 season.
• The Green Wave only allowed Georgia Southern to score in double-digits in the third quarter on Dec. 30, 2019.
• Tulane held opponents to single-digits in a quarter 15 times last season. The Green Wave have achieved the feat on 12 occasions this season.
• The Green Wave picked up right where they left off on the defensive side of the ball and only allowed Nicholls to put up four points in the third quarter in the 2020-21 season opener.
• Tulane held UCF to just eight points in the opening quarter against the Knights.
• The Green Wave held Southeastern to seven points in the fourth quarter earlier this year.
• Tulane kept up the defense holding Memphis to nine points in both the first and second quarters on Jan. 2.
• The Green Wave brought the defensive intensity only allowing Temple to score nine points in the second half on Jan. 30. The three points the Owls scored in the fourth quarter were the lowest by a Tulane opponent this season.
• Tulane stepped up the defense again against Cincinnati on Feb. 7, as they held the Bearcats to three points in the second quarter.
• The Olive and Blue set the tone on defense against Tulsa on Feb. 10. The Golden Hurricane only scored six points in the third quarter in Tulane's 64-47 win.
STOCKTON THE LEGEND
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton has amassed 598 NCAA wins in her 30-year coaching career. This number currently ranks 19th among all active Division I coaches. Stockton has the most wins of any coach in the American Athletic Conference.

• Now in her 27th year with the Green Wave women's basketball program in 2020-21 it's hard to imagine anyone else at the helm besides Coach Lisa Stockton. Her numbers are staggering: three different conferences, four conference tournament championships, two conference regular-season championships, six All-Americans, 11 NCAA Tournament berths, seven WNIT spots and 535 wins. No one in the history of Tulane women's basketball is even close to Stockton's career numbers.
