NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's basketball team will travel to play No. 12/15 USF on Saturday, Feb. 20. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT in the Yuengling Center.
STARTING FIVE
1. Freshman JerKaila Jordan has made a splash early in her collegiate career. She has been honored by the AAC seven times. Back on Dec. 14 she was named Conference Player of the Week. Jordan has picked up five Freshman of the Week awards this season. She has led the Green Wave in scoring in 11 of the team's 20 games this season.
2. Jordan currently ranks in the top 10 in the American Athletic Conference in scoring (15.5), field goal percentage (.477), free throw percentage (.704) and steals (2.1).
3. Jordan is eighth in the nation among all freshmen in field goal percentage and 11th in points per game. She leads all freshman in The American in both categories.
4. Senior Krystal Freeman leads the Green Wave and ranks fourth in the AAC with 7.6 rebounds per game. She is second on the team and ninth in the conference with 12.7 points a game.
5. Senior Arsula Clark earned Preseason Second Team All-AAC honors. She currently ranks third on the team and 13th in the conference in scoring with a 11.9 points per game average.
SERIES HISTORY – SOUTH FLORIDA
• The Green Wave and the Bulls have met 44 times in program history with South Florida holding a 25-19 edge.
• South Florida has taken 16 straight games over the Green Wave dating back to the 2014-15 season.
• The Bulls took the meeting between the two teams earlier this season, 72-53. Elisa Pinzan led the Bulls with 22 points and seven assists. Senior Arsula Clark was the top scorer for the Green Wave with 20 points.
• USF hit 10 threes and scored 30 points in the paint earlier this season in New Orleans.
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton holds a 15-22 all-time record
against South Florida in her career at Tulane.
• Tulane has a 7-9 record under Stockton when playing USF in
Tampa.
SCOUTING THE BULLS
• South Florida enters its matchup at Tulane ranked No. 12/15
nationally and carrying a 12-1 overall record and a 9-0 conference mark. The Bulls are riding an 11-game winning streak, including a win over then-No. 6/7 Mississippi State in overtime.
• USF will return to the hardwood after defeating Cincinnati,
69-65, in overtime on Feb. 17. After playing Tulane earlier this season, the Bulls went on a three-week COVID pause.
• The Bulls lead the AAC in scoring offense (71.1), scoring margin (+17.7), 3-point field goal percentage defense (.201), rebounds (45.7), rebound margin (+10.5), blocks (4.2), assists (17.4), assist/turnover ratio (1.3), offensive rebounds (16.2), defensive rebounds (29.5) and 3-point field goals made (8.1).
• South Florida leads the nation in 3-point field goal percentage defense. The Bulls are also sixth in the NCAA in rebounds per game, ninth in field goal percentage defense, 11th in rebound margin and assist/turnover ratio and 15th in assists per game.
• The Bulls share the ball well as they have five players in the top 30 in scoring in the AAC.
• Sophomore guard Elena Tsineke leads the way with 12.0 points per game to rank 12th in the conference, junior point guard Sydni Harvey is second on the team and 15th in the conference at 11.7 per game and senior forward Bethy Mununga ranks third on the team and 16th in the AAC at 11.5.
• Junior Elisa Pinzan (9.9) and sophomore Maria Alvarez (9.5) and round out the group ranked 24th and 26th in the conference, respectively.
• Mununga leads the conference and ranks ninth nationally in
rebounds per game at 12.0. She had a career day against ECU
with 23 points and 21 rebounds on Jan. 2.
• Mununga has logged double-digit rebounds in 11 of the Bulls' 13 games this season.
• Pinzan is tops in the conference and ranks second in the country with 7.3 assists per game. She also third nationally in assist/turnover ratio at 4.13.
• South Florida head coach Jose Fernandez is in his 21st season
on the bench for the Bulls and has posted a 385-273 mark since
arriving in Tampa.
CARDIAC WAVE
• The Olive and Blue have had 33 of their last 49 games decided by 10 points or less dating back to last season. The Green Wave are 15-18 in those games.
• Within those 32 games, 23 were decided by five points or less. Tulane is 14-9 in games decided by five points or less dating back to last season, including going 2-1 in games that finished with the exact final score of 64-62.
• Although the Wave have played many close games in the last two seasons, Tulane has only played two overtime games in that time. The Olive and Blue beat Tulsa Jan. 8 and fell to Houston Feb. 1 in overtime last season.
• The Green Wave also had a knack for mounting double-digit comebacks last season. Tulane started the trend in the second game of the season as it overcame an 18-point deficit at Washington to take a 64-62 win over the Huskies.
• The Green Wave mounted 17-point comebacks at both Southern Miss and SMU as well.
QUEST FOR 600
• Tulane women's basketball coach Lisa Stockton has compiled 599 wins in her career. With one more win, she will become just the 77th NCAA women's basketball coach to achieve the feat of winning 600 games in a career. Stockton will be the 19th active Division I head coach with 600 wins.
AMONG THE LEAGUE LEADERS
• Tulane ranks among the league's top five in 15 different statistical categories.
• The Green Wave lead the conference in field goal percentage at .430. They rank second the conference in scoring (68.6), scoring margin (+8.9), assists (14.7) and assist/turnover ratio (1.0).
• Tulane is the only team in The American to have three players ranked in the top 13 in scoring. Freshman JerKaila Jordan is third in the conference with 15.5, while senior Krystal Freeman is ninth at 12.7 and Arsula Clark 13th at 11.9 points per game.
JORDAN SETS RECORDS
• Freshman JerKaila Jordan has won five American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week awards this season.
• Jordan is now tied with Cincinnati's IImar'I Thomas (2017-18), Rutgers' Tyler Scaife (2013-14) and Temple's Feyonda Fitzgerald (2013-14) for the all-time conference record for freshman of the week awards by a single player.
FRESHMAN LEADS THE WAY
• Freshman Jerkaila Jordan currently leads the Green Wave with 15.5 points, 58 assists, 24 made threes and 41 steals.
• She is second on the team with 13 blocked shots.
• Jordan has scored in double figures in 17 of the Green Wave's 20 games.
• The New Orleans native is seventh all-time in total points among freshmen in program history. She currently has 309 points on the year. Her 15.5 points per game are second all-time among freshmen, only behind Barbara Farris' 15.6.
• The freshman guard had a career day against UCF on Feb. 17. She scored a season-high 28 points on 9-17 from the field and 4-9 from three. This is the most points a Tulane freshman has scored since stats were readily available.
TULANE VS. RANKED TEAMS
• The Tulane University women's basketball program has an all-time record of 13-83 record against ranked teams.
• The Green Wave last beat a ranked team when they defeated No. 20 LSU, 65-62, in overtime on Nov. 19, 2011 at Fogelman in Devlin.
• The Green Wave have lost 22 consecutive games at the hands of ranked opponents. Tulane have an 0-6 record when facing a ranked USF team.
• The Olive and Blue hold a 0-1 against teams ranked No. 12.
LOUISIANA TALENT
• Freshman Jerkaila Jordan comes to Tulane after winning four straight Louisiana High School State Championships at John Curtis. She was named the MVP of each championship game.
• Jordan was named the Gatorade Player of the Year and Miss Basketball in the state of Louisiana in 2020. She was also the No. 45 recruit in the nation coming out of high school.
• She opened her collegiate career with 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals against Nicholls. Jordan earned AAC Freshman of the Week honors for her efforts.
• She followed that performance up with 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals at South Alabama. The freshman guard shot 2-3 from behind the arc and 4-4 from the charity stripe in Mobile, Ala.
• Jordan was named player of the week from the AAC on Dec. 14.
• The standout freshman earned her third AAC Freshman of the Week Award on Jan. 4, after logging 15 points, three rebounds and three steals in the win over Memphis.
• The New Orleans native earned her fourth Freshman of the Week Honor after tying her career-high with 22 points in the win at Tulsa. She had a career day shooting going 8-9 from the field and 4-4 from three against the Golden Hurricane.
STOCKTON THE LEGEND
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton has amassed 599 NCAA wins in her 30-year coaching career. This number currently ranks 19th among all active Division I coaches. Stockton has the most wins of any coach in the American Athletic Conference.

• Now in her 27th year with the Green Wave women's basketball program in 2020-21 it's hard to imagine anyone else at the helm besides Coach Lisa Stockton. Her numbers are staggering: three different conferences, four conference tournament championships, two conference regular-season championships, six All-Americans, 11 NCAA Tournament berths, seven WNIT spots and 536 wins. No one in the history of Tulane women's basketball is even close to Stockton's career numbers.
