
Palacios and Green Wave Shoot Up the Leaderboard at the Lake Oconee Invitational

GREENSBORO, Ga. – Sophomore Carlota Palacios of the Tulane University golf team moved up the leaderboard at the Lake Oconee Invitational today in the second round.

Palacios posted a team-best round of 1-under 71. She started the day hot by logging a birdie on the par-4 first hold. She continued her great play on the back nine with four straight birdies. The Vitoria, Spain, native recorded birdies on the par-4 13th, par-3 14th, par-4 15th and par-4 16th holes in today's second round.

She posted a 2-over 74 in the first round and now has a 1-over 145 total score going into the final round tomorrow. Palacios sits tied for second headed into the final day of play.
"Today was a positive step forward for the team," Tulane head coach Stew Burke said. "We've been working hard on our mental game in preparing for tough days like this. The whole team really hung in and grinded out the low score of the day. Tomorrow will be a good challenge as we're in a good position to test ourselves at the top of the leaderboard."

As a team, the Green Wave moved up seven spots on the leaderboard to finish the day in fifth. Tulane posted a total score of 14-over 302 on the day, which was the lowest score posted by any team today. The Olive and Blue currently hold a 38-over 614 headed into the third and final round Sunday.

Junior Isabella Cardenas shot 3-over 75 on the day for the Green Wave. She registered birdies on the par-3 fourth and par-4 10th holes. She now has three birdies on the tournament and sits tied for 33rd headed into the final day of play.

Senior Jennifer Rosenberg finished the day tied for 20th individually. She posted two birdies in the second round and holds a total score of 9-over 153 headed into the third round. Rosenberg recorded three birdies in the first round in route to a score of 2-over 74.

Sophomore Sandra Vazquez logged a third round score of 5-over 77. She heads to the final round tied for 55th.

Freshman Miriam Emmert closed the day tied for 70th. She had two birdies in the second round.

Old Dominion leads all teams through two rounds with a total score of 27-over 603. Kennesaw State and tournament host Mercer finished the day tied for second place at 30-over 606. Mercer's Payton Schanen sits atop the leaderboard at 2-under 142.
